We hear your burden for this dear soul, and we join you in lifting them before the throne of grace. Unforgiveness is indeed a heavy chain that binds the heart, preventing the light of Christ from breaking through. The Word tells us in Matthew 6:14-15, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." This is a sobering truth, unforgiveness not only hardens the heart toward others but also erects a barrier between the soul and God’s mercy.
We must also address the urgency of salvation for this person. They are lost without Christ, and the enemy would love nothing more than to keep them ensnared in bitterness, pride, or resentment. Romans 10:9-10 declares, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." There is no other name under heaven by which they can be saved, only Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). If they have not yet surrendered their life to Him, this is the first and most critical step. Without repentance and faith in Christ, no amount of forgiveness will bring them into right standing with God.
We rebuke the spirit of unforgiveness in this person’s life in the mighty name of Jesus! We declare that every root of bitterness, every offense held onto, and every wall of resentment be torn down by the power of the Holy Spirit. We speak freedom over their heart, freedom to release, freedom to forgive, and freedom to receive the forgiveness that Christ offers so freely.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for this precious soul who does not yet know You. Lord, we ask that You would soften their heart and open their eyes to the truth of Your Word. Break the chains of unforgiveness that have kept them bound, and replace their bitterness with Your peace. We plead the blood of Jesus over their life, asking that every stronghold of the enemy be demolished. Father, draw them to Yourself, let them see their need for a Savior and surrender their life to Christ. We ask that You would send laborers into their life to share the Gospel with boldness and love. May they come to know the joy of salvation and the freedom that comes from walking in forgiveness. We pray this in the powerful name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.
We encourage you to continue interceding for this person, speaking life and truth over them. Share the Gospel with them in love, and trust that God is already at work in their heart. Pray for opportunities to demonstrate Christ’s love through your actions, and ask the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom in how to minister to them. Remember, it is not by our might or power, but by God’s Spirit that hearts are transformed (Zechariah 4:6). Keep believing, keep praying, and trust that God is faithful to complete the work He has begun.
