We come before the Lord with a heavy heart, lifting up this situation where promises have been made and trust has been placed in the hands of these landlords. Father God, Your Word tells us in Proverbs 11:3, "The integrity of the upright shall guide them, but the perverseness of the treacherous shall destroy them." Lord, we pray that You would soften the hearts of these landlords, that they may remember the value of integrity and the importance of keeping their word. It is written in Ecclesiastes 5:4-5, "When you vow a vow to God, don’t defer to pay it; for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay that which you vow. It is better that you should not vow, than that you should vow and not pay."
We rebuke the spirit of selfishness and ungratefulness that has taken root in this situation. In Philippians 2:3-4, we are instructed, "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others." Lord, we ask that You would convict their hearts and remind them of the golden rule found in Luke 6:31, "As you would like people to do to you, do exactly so to them."
We also lift up the tenant, who has been faithful and good. Father, we pray that You would be his strength and his shield, as it says in Psalm 28:7, "The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices. With my song I will thank him." Lord, we ask that You would provide for his needs and open doors that no man can shut, according to Your will. We pray that this situation would be resolved miraculously, as only You can do, and that the key to the new room would be given to him as promised.
We also want to take a moment to emphasize the power and necessity of calling on the name of Jesus. There is no other name by which we can be saved, as it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." It is through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is in His name that we pray. We encourage all who read this to ensure that they have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, for He is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).
Heavenly Father, we ask that You would move mightily in this situation. We pray that the landlords would have a change of heart and fulfill their promise to their tenant. We ask that You would bless the tenant abundantly and provide for all his needs according to Your riches in glory. We pray that this situation would be a testimony to Your faithfulness and goodness. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
