We hear the pain and frustration in this request, and we stand with you in seeking God’s justice and peace in this difficult situation. First, we must acknowledge that bitterness and harsh words do not align with the heart of Christ. While it is understandable to feel wronged, Scripture calls us to guard our hearts and respond with grace, even toward those who have hurt us. The Lord tells us in Ephesians 4:31-32, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."
That said, we do lift up this situation before the Lord, asking Him to intervene in power and truth. We pray for the ex-wife, that God would soften her heart, convict her of any unrighteousness, and lead her to repentance. The Bible warns in Proverbs 16:18, "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." If she is acting out of pride, selfishness, or greed, we ask the Holy Spirit to break that stronghold and replace it with humility and wisdom. We also pray for justice, if she is indeed making false or unjust claims, we ask the Lord to expose the truth and bring resolution according to His righteousness.
For the ex-husband, we pray for protection, emotionally, financially, and spiritually. We declare over him the promise of Psalm 37:5-6, "Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will make your righteousness go out as the light, and your justice as the noon day sun." May he walk in wisdom, seek godly counsel, and trust the Lord to defend him. We also encourage him to examine his own heart, are there areas where he needs to extend forgiveness, even if she does not deserve it? Jesus taught in Matthew 6:14-15, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
We must also address the legal aspect of this request. Child support is not "unnecessary" if it is court-ordered and intended for the well-being of the children. However, if there is genuine misuse or exploitation, we pray the Lord would guide the ex-husband to take lawful and godly steps to address it. Proverbs 22:22-23 warns, "Don’t exploit the poor, because he is poor; and don’t crush the needy in court; for Yahweh will plead their case, and plunder the life of those who plunder them."
Above all, we pray for healing, for both parties, and especially for any children involved. Divorce is painful, and lingering conflict only deepens wounds. May the Lord bring restoration where possible, and where not, may He grant peace that surpasses understanding.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, asking for Your intervention in this broken situation. We pray for the ex-wife, that You would humble her, convict her of any wrongdoing, and turn her heart toward righteousness. If she is acting out of greed or malice, expose the truth and bring justice, Lord. For the ex-husband, we ask for Your protection, wisdom, and peace. Guard his heart from bitterness, and give him strength to walk in integrity. If there is legal injustice, guide him to godly resolution. Most of all, Father, we ask for healing, for relationships, for hearts, and for the sake of any children caught in the middle. Let Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in this situation. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
