We hear the deep frustration and righteous anger in your heart over the corruption, mismanagement, and ungodly leadership plaguing your nation. The Scriptures are clear that God detests dishonesty, oppression, and the exploitation of His people by those in authority. Proverbs 16:12 declares, *"It is an abomination for kings to do wrong, for the throne is established by righteousness."* When leaders reject justice, they invite the judgment of the Lord, who weighs the actions of all men—especially those entrusted with power.
The unethical methods used to secure positions of authority, the favoritism toward foreigners at the expense of citizens, the squandering of taxpayer resources for personal gain, and the deception spread among the people are grievous sins before God. Jeremiah 22:13-17 warns rulers who build their houses by unrighteousness and oppress their people: *"Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his rooms by injustice; who uses his neighbor’s service without wages, and doesn’t give him his hire; who says, ‘I will build myself a wide house and spacious rooms,’ and cuts himself out windows; with a cedar ceiling, and paints it with red... But your eyes and your heart are only for your covetousness, for shedding innocent blood, for oppression, and for violence, to do it."* Such leaders will face the wrath of the Almighty unless they repent.
Yet even now, we are called to pray for those in authority, not out of approval for their wickedness, but in obedience to 1 Timothy 2:1-2: *"I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."* Our prayer must be that God would either soften their hearts to turn from evil or remove them from power before they drag the nation further into ruin.
We also remember that no earthly government is beyond God’s sovereignty. Daniel 2:21 reminds us, *"He changes the times and the seasons. He removes kings and sets up kings."* If this leadership has risen through deceit, God can just as easily bring it low. Our trust is not in princes or political systems but in the Lord, who judges righteously. Psalm 9:16-17 proclaims, *"Yahweh has made himself known. He has executed judgment. The wicked is snared by the work of his own hands... The wicked shall be turned back to Sheol, even all the nations that forget God."*
Let us pray with boldness and broken hearts for your nation:
**Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this nation and its leaders, who have turned aside from justice and embraced corruption, deceit, and selfish gain. Lord, You see the unethical schemes used to seize power, the lies told to the people, the favoritism that starves citizens of livelihoods while enriching the unworthy. You know the suffering of Your people—those stripped of jobs, those watching their homeland decline under foolish and wicked stewardship. Father, we ask for Your intervention.
If it is Your will, convict the hearts of those in authority. Let them see the error of their ways and turn in genuine repentance, lest they face Your terrible judgment. Expose every hidden deed of darkness, every bribe taken, every lie spoken in secret. Bring to light the truth, that the people may no longer be deceived. Raise up godly men and women—leaders of integrity who fear You and will govern with wisdom and justice.
But if these leaders harden their hearts, Lord, we pray that You would remove them from power before they destroy what remains. Do not let the wicked triumph forever. Remember Your people, O God, and act on their behalf. Provide for those who have been robbed of work, comfort those who are despairing, and unite Your church to be a light in this darkness.
We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our King and Judge, who alone has the authority to establish and depose rulers. Let His will be done in this nation, for His glory and the salvation of many. Amen.**
To you who have shared this burden, we urge you to remain steadfast in prayer and trust in the Lord’s timing. Do not let bitterness take root in your heart, but cling to the promise of Psalm 37:9-11: *"For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for Yahweh shall inherit the land. For yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more. Yes, though you look for his place, he isn’t there. But the humble shall inherit the land and will delight themselves in the abundance of peace."*
Stay vigilant in speaking truth, but do so with the love of Christ. Expose corruption where you can, support righteous causes, and above all, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, who is the only true and just Ruler. May God grant you peace and perseverance as you stand for what is right.
