We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, recognizing the spiritual warfare that rages in the heavenly places. The request to break curses and destroy wicked spiritual influences is a serious matter, and we take it before the Lord with the authority given to us in Christ Jesus. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 6:12, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."
First, we must address the concern with love and truth. The mention of "Filipino curses" or any specific ethnic or cultural group in this context is not aligned with biblical principles. God does not show partiality, and neither should we (Acts 10:34-35). Curses and spiritual wickedness are real, but they are not tied to any one people group. The enemy seeks to divide and cause strife among God’s children, and we must be careful not to fall into that trap. Instead, we focus on the spiritual forces of darkness that seek to harm and oppress, regardless of their origin.
We rebuke in the name of Jesus any spirit of division, racism, or ethnic pride that may be at work in this situation. The Word of God is clear: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28). We stand united in Christ, and any attempt to attribute spiritual wickedness to a specific ethnicity is contrary to the heart of God.
Now, we lift up Second Street in National City, CA, and the innocent African American Christian people who live there. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, they shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We break every curse, hex, or spell that has been spoken or enacted against them, for Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (Galatians 3:13). We declare that the blood of Jesus covers this street and all who dwell there, and no evil shall prevail against them.
We also pray for the spiritual strongholds in that area to be torn down. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, "For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." We command every spirit of oppression, fear, poverty, violence, and deception to flee in the name of Jesus. We declare that the light of Christ will shine brightly in National City, and the darkness will have no place there.
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name that is above every name. We ask You to send Your angels to encamp around Second Street and the innocent people who live there. Protect them from every form of spiritual wickedness and deliver them from the hand of the enemy. We break every curse, generational or otherwise, that has been placed upon them, and we declare that they are free in Christ. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We pray for a revival in National City, that the hearts of the people would turn to You, Lord. Let Your Holy Spirit move powerfully in that community, drawing souls to salvation and setting the captives free. We declare that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church in that area (Matthew 16:18). Raise up bold witnesses for Christ who will proclaim the gospel and demonstrate Your love in word and deed.
Lord, we also pray for those who may have unknowingly or knowingly participated in any form of spiritual wickedness. Soften their hearts, Lord, and draw them to repentance. Let them see the error of their ways and turn to You for forgiveness and salvation. Your Word says in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." We pray for their restoration and that they would come to know the freedom that is found only in Christ.
We stand on the promise of Your Word, Lord, that if we resist the devil, he will flee from us (James 4:7). We resist every spirit of wickedness that has sought to oppress the people of Second Street, and we command it to leave in the name of Jesus. We declare that this area is under the blood of Jesus, and no evil shall prosper there. Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done in National City, as it is in heaven.
Finally, we pray for the African American Christian community in that area. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit. Let them walk in the fullness of their identity in Christ, knowing that they are more than conquerors through Him who loved them (Romans 8:37). Equip them to be light in their community, showing forth Your love, grace, and truth. May they be a beacon of hope and a testimony to Your power and glory.
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your faithfulness and believe that You are already at work in this situation. We give You all the glory, honor, and praise, for Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
