Pray for souls restoration and protection

Disciple of Prayer
Hi, I have been afflicted with a terrible and crippling depression after a relationship I had with someone who was very special to me but did not have my best interest in mind. I became so attached and I feel like I'm losing a grip on life. Whatever it was between us gave me a joy that I had been waiting for for such a long time and it feels like it just got ripped out of my hands. I'm at a loss. I don't enjoy myself. I'm plagued with ruminating thoughts about the relationship and no matter where I turn it seems like I can't escape. At one point I asked for prayers for the both of us and I realize that I think Jesus wants me to be selfish because this man holds me in contempt. He is incredibly rage-filled and he doesn't know the truth of me and I don't think he knows the truth of Jesus either. So please pray for me. Pray for my wellness. Pray for my protection. And for my enjoyment of the deepest self Jesus has for me. Thank you.

We hear the deep pain in your heart, and we lift you up before the Lord with compassion and urgency. The grief of a broken relationship can feel overwhelming, especially when it was tied to such profound joy and longing. But we must first address the truth of what transpired between you and this man. Scripture is clear: *"Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14). If this man does not know Jesus—or worse, holds contempt for the truth—then this relationship was never aligned with God’s design for your life. The attachment you feel, though real, was built on shaky ground, and the Lord is calling you to release it fully into His hands.

Your mention of "enjoyment of the deepest self Jesus has for you" is a beautiful cry of your spirit, but we must rebuke the lie that this man was the source of that joy. True joy is found in Christ alone (*"These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full"*—John 15:11). The enemy wants you to believe that your worth and happiness were tied to this relationship, but that is a deception. You are a beloved child of God, fearfully and wonderfully made (*Psalm 139:14*), and your identity is not defined by this man’s rejection or rage.

We also must address the sin of fornication if that was part of this relationship. If you engaged in sexual intimacy outside of marriage, that is a grievous offense against God’s holy design (*"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body"*—1 Corinthians 6:18). Repentance is not to bring shame, but to free you from the bondage of guilt and to restore your intimacy with the Lord. Confess this to Him, receive His forgiveness, and walk in the freedom Christ died to give you (*"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"*—1 John 1:9).

Now, we pray for you with fervency:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved and find true healing. Lord, we lift up this precious sister who is hurting deeply. You see her pain, her longing, and the grip this relationship has had on her heart. We ask You to break every chain of attachment to this man, every lie that tells her she is incomplete without him, and every thought that exalts him above You. Father, we rebuke the spirit of depression and rumination in Jesus’ name. Your Word says, *"The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly"* (John 10:10). Restore to her the joy of her salvation (*Psalm 51:12*) and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (*Philippians 4:7*).

Lord, we pray for her protection—spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Surround her with Your angels and place a hedge of thorns around her heart so that no ungodly soul tie remains (*Hosea 2:6-7*). Heal her mind from the torment of ruminating thoughts. Your Word says, *"We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ"* (2 Corinthians 10:5). Help her to take every thought captive and replace lies with Your truth.

Father, we ask that You reveal to her the deepest self You have created her to be—the woman who is wholly Yours, unshaken by the opinions of man. Let her find her worth in You alone. Show her the plans You have for her, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give her a future and a hope (*Jeremiah 29:11*). Open her eyes to the godly relationships You have prepared for her, and give her the strength to wait for a spouse who loves You first and will cherish her as Christ cherishes the Church (*Ephesians 5:25*).

Lord, we also pray for this man. Soften his heart to receive the truth of the Gospel. If he is filled with rage, we ask that You convict him of his sin and lead him to repentance. Your Word says, *"The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance"* (2 Peter 3:9). Draw him to Yourself, Jesus.

Finally, Father, we ask that You fill this sister with a fresh outpouring of Your Holy Spirit. Let her experience Your presence in a tangible way, reminding her that You are near to the brokenhearted (*Psalm 34:18*). Restore her soul (*Psalm 23:3*) and teach her to delight herself in You, for You have promised to give her the desires of her heart (*Psalm 37:4*). We declare that she will rise from this season stronger, wiser, and more in love with You than ever before.

We pray all of this in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Beloved, we want to encourage you with this truth: God is not done with you. This pain is not the end of your story. The Lord is close to you, and He is working all things together for your good (*Romans 8:28*). You are not losing your grip on life—you are being held by the One who holds the universe together. Surrender this relationship fully to Him, trust in His timing, and allow Him to heal you from the inside out. Seek fellowship with other believers who can speak life into you and hold you accountable. The enemy wants to isolate you, but God calls you into community (*Hebrews 10:24-25*).

You are deeply loved, and your future is bright in Christ. Keep your eyes on Him, and He will lead you into the fullness of joy He has prepared for you.

Dear friend, we're here with you in your pain, and we want you to know that God sees you and loves you deeply. We're going to keep lifting you up in prayer, but today, we want to remind you of something important. You mentioned feeling like you're losing your grip on life, but we want to assure you that it's not you who's losing your grip, but rather, it's God who's holding on to you tightly.

In times like these, it's easy to feel like we're alone and that God is far away. But remember, God promises in His Word, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). He is always with you, even in the darkest times. So, let's take a deep breath and trust in Him. Trust that He is working everything together for your good (Romans 8:28). Trust that He has a purpose and a plan for your life, even in the midst of this pain.

We also want to encourage you to focus on Jesus. He said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). He wants to give you rest, peace, and joy. So, let's keep our eyes on Him and trust that He will lead us into the fullness of joy He has prepared for us.

We're also going to pray for you today. We're asking God to heal your heart, to fill you with His peace and joy, and to help you trust in Him more and more each day. We're also praying for the person who has caused you so much pain, asking God to soften their heart and draw them to Himself.

Please know that you are not alone. We're here with you, and we're believing with you for healing, restoration, and a bright future in Christ. Keep trusting in Him, and remember, "God is not done with you yet."

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.
