The Golden Calf
The pursuit of wealth as a god demands sacrifice of health, family, and soul, so we must abandon it for true worship.
We join you in lifting up your son before our heavenly Father and we thank you for bringing this request to us in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace. We rejoice that you ended your prayer in Jesus name, for as Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.

We share your heart for your son and his desire to prepare well to be a husband and father, and this desire honors God. Scripture teaches us that marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman for life and that a man is called to provide for his household, for if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever 1 Timothy 5:8. His wish to have stable provision and a normal work schedule before entering into marriage shows wisdom and responsibility, and we commend him for wanting to build his future family on a firm foundation rather than rushing ahead. We encourage him to continue to pursue courtship with the goal of marriage to a fellow believer in Christ, for a godly marriage that honors the Lord is built upon shared faith and commitment.

We also hear your trust in God's plan and timing, and we encourage you both to hold fast to that trust. We are reminded in Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. And we know that our God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. As your son commits his work to the Lord, we pray he will do so heartily as for the Lord and not for men Colossians 3:23, seeking first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, trusting that all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33.

We pray together now for him.

Father in heaven, we come before you in the mighty name of Jesus and lift up this beloved son to you. You know his heart, his diligence, and his desire to honor you in work and in marriage and family. We ask that you open the right door for a job opportunity or promotion according to your perfect will, a position that will provide for his needs and allow him to provide for a future wife and children, with a healthy and stable schedule that gives time to lead his home well. Commit his deeds to you Lord, that his plans may succeed Proverbs 16:3. Give him favor with employers, wisdom in his decisions, and confidence not in his own strength but in your provision. We pray that you are preparing a godly wife for him, a Christian believer who loves you, and that you will guide their courtship toward a holy marriage that glorifies you. Help him to delight himself in you while he waits, knowing you will give him the desires of his heart Psalm 37:4. Grant him and his mother peace as they wait on your timing, which is always perfect. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Amen.

We encourage your son to continue to be faithful in the work God has already given him, to pray for wisdom and to seek counsel from godly men, and to keep his eyes on the Lord's leading. God is faithful and He honors those who honor Him. We will continue to stand with you in prayer for God's provision and for a soon and clear answer that brings confidence and joy.

We hear your love for your son in this prayer, and your trust that God sees his desire to provide well and build a family. Wanting a job that offers both better pay and a more steady, normal schedule is a real and good concern as he thinks about marriage, and it makes sense you would want to lift that burden to the Father with him.

We join you in asking God to open the right door in His timing, and to give your son clarity and confidence as he waits. Sometimes the pressure to make everything line up quickly for marriage can feel heavy, so continuing to remind him that his worth and your pride in him are not tied to a title or paycheck can be a steady encouragement while he works toward the next step.

One simple way to support him right now might be to ask how you can pray more specifically with him, what kind of schedule he is hoping for, whether he has been able to talk with a supervisor about growth where he is, or if there is a mentor or career contact at church or in the community who could offer practical guidance on applications or next opportunities.

Father, we bring this young man before You and ask for Your provision and direction for his work. Give him wisdom as he seeks, peace as he waits, and confidence in Your care for his future marriage and family. Provide for what he needs and lead him step by step. In Jesus' name, amen.

We join you in prayer before our heavenly Father for your son, and we thank you for the tender and faithful love that moves you to intercede for him.

It is a good and honorable desire that he would seek to provide and to establish a home upon the foundation of holy marriage before starting a family. Scripture teaches that marriage is not a thing of chance but of choice and covenant, cemented by mutual love, wherein a man and a woman become one. To desire to enter that estate with readiness to provide and to cherish is worthy of prayer, and we rejoice that he would seek to do so in the right and ordered way, keeping that which belongs to marriage within marriage itself.

We pray that the Lord, who sees and knows his condition, will open a door for honest labor and provision. Our Lord Jesus Himself was known as the carpenter's son and labored with His hands, and He knows what it is to work and to provide. We ask the Father to grant your son, in His perfect wisdom and timing, either a new opportunity or a promotion where he is, with sufficient provision and a steadier schedule that he may bear well the responsibilities of a husband and father. We pray also that he may have wisdom to steward what is given and diligence to labor heartily as unto the Lord.

We hear your trust in God's plan and His timing, and that trust is well placed. The Lord often proves His people as He proved Abraham, calling him to wait with patience for the promise, and as He proved even His own dear Son who was tested in all things. These probations are not to harm His children but to strengthen faith and to make the mercy sweeter when it comes. If the answer tarries, it is not because the Father's ear is closed. He looks upon His Son bearing our sin upon the Cross, and for His sake He receives us graciously and loves us freely. Because of that great atonement we may come with confidence, knowing we have fellowship with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

May your son's confidence rest not only in a position or in wages, but first in Christ who came to seek and to save that which was lost. If he has not already done so, may he trust wholly in the Lord Jesus for salvation, for there is no other name by which we are saved. And trusting Him, may he know that the same everlasting love which gave the Son for our ransom will also withhold no good thing that is needful.

Let us pray together.

Our Father, we bring this son before Your throne of grace through the blood of Your Son Jesus. You know his desire to marry and to build a family according to Your good design. In Your mercy, provide for him work that will enable him to provide as You would have him do. Grant him favor with those who oversee his labor, skill in his hands, and integrity in all his ways. Give him patience to wait upon Your timing and faith to trust that Your plan is best, and in Your good time make his way plain. Keep him from anxiety and establish his heart in Christ, that whatever his outward condition he may know himself betrothed to the Lamb and kept by Your grace. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You. Amen.
