Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You speak of a heart bound by fear and deception, a mind resistant to the love that seeks its good. Such bonds are indeed heavy, and they lead only to greater isolation. But there is another binding I would urge you to seek in prayer: not of hands, but of heart and mind, bound fast to Christ. I have said before, bind not your hands, but bind your heart and mind; the outer bonds bring judgment, but the inner bonds of grace are the easy yoke of which the Lord said, “Take my yoke upon you, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest for your souls.” This yoke is not heavy, this burden is light. Pray, then, that your son would exchange his present cords for that divine link, so that his heart may no longer be tied in knots, but freely tethered to the One who is peace.

Remember how the angel came to Joseph in his perplexity, calling him by name and reminding him of his father David, to stir up the memory of God’s promise to his whole race. So I say to you: bring to mind the covenant mercies of the Lord, who has been faithful to your household. Do not let sorrow fill your heart as though hope were dead. Even the disciples, before they had received the Spirit, were overwhelmed and yet stood firm, for Christ knew the depth of their anguish and it became a touchstone for their love. So now, your son’s mind is being tested, yet the Master sees his despondency, and your own. He has permitted this trial not for ruin but for restoration, that what is hidden might be brought to light and healed.

When you are tempted to answer his resistance with sharpness, place the sign of the cross upon your breast. Call to mind the patience of God, who endured insult with meekness. For nothing is so powerful to quench anger as the remembrance of Christ’s sufferings, and nothing so effectively cures a fault as the honest acknowledgment of our own. If your son would cease to say with Cain, “I know not,” and instead confess with Adam, “I heard Your voice and was afraid,” then healing would begin. Pray therefore that the spirit of deception be banished, and that he might see his condition clearly, not as an accuser but as a sick man longing for the physician.

Continue to do good to him, knowing that whatever you do from the heart, as to the Lord and not to man, you shall receive the same again. You serve the Lord Christ in your steadfast love. Meanwhile, I will join my prayers to yours: that the Father who has entrusted all judgment to the Son would soften that heart, unbind every knot, and restore the heart of the father to the son and the son to the father. May you all be granted strength, wisdom, and the hope that looks not to this present storm but to the calm haven of God’s unchanging love.

Wisdom’s starting point is the fear of the Lord, and that fear is not a cowering dread but a reverence that learns to hate evil. A heart that pulls away into isolation and resists the voices of those who love it is often a heart that has not yet chosen that holy fear. As a father speaks to his son in Proverbs and pleads with him to incline his ear to wisdom and to hide the commandments in his heart, so your love continues to call out to him. Right now, his resistance is painful, but it does not cancel the promise that the Lord corrects every son whom He receives. When a person despises wisdom and instruction, there is a deeper fear at work underneath, the fear of evil, the fear of what surrender might cost, the fear of being known. And so your request is exactly right: you are asking God to untie those hidden knots and to quiet his heart with a different fear, the fear that leads to life.

Remember whose son he is. You have entrusted him to the Father who did not spare His own beloved Son for our sake. When Abraham’s heart was torn over the son he loved, God saw that trust and provided the sacrifice that was needed. The ultimate picture of a father surrendering his son points us to the cross, where Jesus became the true offering so that every prodigal could be brought home. The God who restored sanity and broken families in the Scriptures is still the God who brings restoration. No isolation, no deception, no years lost to confusion can place a person beyond the reach of the Son of Righteousness who rises with healing in His wings. The same power that raised Christ from the dead can break through the thicket of fear that surrounds your son’s mind and spirit.

For your part, do not grow weary. The call to love without enabling, to speak truth without provoking, and to wait without despair asks for the very strength and patience you are praying about. The wickedness this world offers profits nothing, but righteousness preserves and restores. Hold fast to the record God has given about His Son: that eternal life is in Him, and whoever has the Son has that life. Your son’s story is not finished, and your family’s hope is not rooted in what you can see but in the One who hears even the voice of a lad where he is. Keep praying for his protection and for his heart to soften, because the Holy Spirit knows how to lead a bride back to the Son to whom the Father has given all things.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your son. It has been on our hearts to lift him up before the Lord, asking that God would soften his heart, grant him discernment, and free him from any fear or deception that may be holding him captive. We have prayed that every knot binding him from peace, truth, and healthy relationships would be untied by the power of the Holy Spirit, and that he would be open to wise counsel and the love of those around him.

We have also asked the Lord to place a hedge of protection around his mind and spirit, bringing healing to any unseen struggles and drawing him closer to the Father’s heart. Our prayers have included your family as well, that you would be filled with strength, wisdom, patience, and hope as you continue to love him and entrust him to the Lord’s care.

If God has answered these prayers in any way, we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report—please share how He has moved so we can rejoice with you. If the answers have not yet come, or if new burdens have arisen, we invite you to post this request again so we can continue standing with you in faith. We believe that God hears and is at work, even when we cannot see it.

May the Lord bless you and your family as you seek Him, and may His peace guard your hearts as you wait on Him. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus.
