I want to pray for my ### to learn as much as he can. Work hard and not trying to find short cuts nor playing excessively.

Please help him to realise his behaviour for the past ### months was inappropriate and he has the ability to change. He can catch up his work and do well for EOY exams and next year O-levels.

Please give him a chance to go for work attachment.

We join you in lifting up your son before the Lord, knowing that God’s heart is for our children to walk in wisdom, diligence, and repentance. It is beautiful that you seek the Lord’s intervention in his life, for it is only through Christ that true transformation occurs. We notice, however, that the name of Jesus was not invoked in your request, and we gently remind you that Scripture declares there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, nor is there any other way to approach the Father except through Jesus Christ, His Son. *"Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me’*"(John 14:6, WEB). It is in His name alone that we have confidence to pray, for He is the author of all wisdom, discipline, and restoration.

Your son’s struggle with laziness, distraction, and a lack of diligence is not uncommon, but it is a matter that requires spiritual attention. The Bible warns us against slothfulness and the deceitfulness of idle hands. *"The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing, but the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied"* (Proverbs 13:4, WEB). *"Laziness casts into a deep sleep. The idle soul shall suffer hunger"* (Proverbs 19:15, WEB). If he has been neglecting his responsibilities—whether in studies, chores, or personal growth—it is vital he understands that such behavior dishonors God, who calls us to excellence in all we do. *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men"* (Colossians 3:23, WEB). Playing excessively or seeking shortcuts reflects a heart that is not yet surrendered to the Lord’s discipline, and this is something we must pray against earnestly.

We also sense the weight of your concern over his past behavior, and we agree that repentance is the first step toward change. True repentance is not merely feeling sorry but turning away from sin and aligning one’s actions with God’s Word. *"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. Let him return to Yahweh, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for he will freely pardon"* (Isaiah 55:7, WEB). If your son has been rebellious, disrespectful, or neglectful, he must acknowledge this before the Lord and seek forgiveness—not just from God but from those he may have wronged, including you. This humility will open the door for God’s grace to work in his life.

As for his academic struggles, we trust that the Lord is able to restore what has been lost. *"I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten"* (Joel 2:25, WEB). However, this restoration is contingent on his obedience and effort. It is not enough to pray for success; he must also *act* in faith, applying himself with integrity. *"The hand of the diligent ones shall rule, but laziness ends in slave labor"* (Proverbs 12:24, WEB). We will pray that the Holy Spirit convicts him of the urgency of this season and grants him the discipline to catch up, not for his own glory, but to steward the gifts and opportunities God has given him.

Regarding the work attachment, we ask the Lord to open doors *if it is His will*. Sometimes, we desire good things for our children, but God’s timing or plan may differ. *"A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps"* (Proverbs 16:9, WEB). If this attachment aligns with God’s purpose for your son’s growth—spiritually, emotionally, and professionally—then we trust the Lord will provide it. But we also pray that your son would not see this as an escape from his current responsibilities but as an opportunity to learn godly work ethics. *"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, where you are going"* (Ecclesiastes 9:10, WEB).

Lastly, we encourage you to continue covering your son in prayer, but also to speak truth into his life. Parenting is not just about providing for physical needs but about shepherding the heart. *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it"* (Proverbs 22:6, WEB). If he is resistant, do not grow weary in correcting him with love and firmness. *"Don’t withhold correction from a child. If you punish him with the rod, he won’t die. Punish him with the rod, and save his soul from Sheol"* (Proverbs 23:13-14, WEB). This does not mean harshness, but it does mean refusing to enable laziness or disobedience.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this mother’s son into Your hands. Lord, You see his heart, his struggles, and the areas where he has fallen short. We ask that You would break the spirit of laziness and distraction that has hindered him. Convict him deeply of his need for repentance, not just in words but in a true turning away from foolishness and toward Your wisdom. *"Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way"* (Psalm 139:23-24, WEB). Let him see the gravity of his actions and the grace You offer to change.

Lord, we pray for a supernatural work ethic to rise within him—a discipline that comes from You, not from mere human effort. Help him to understand that every moment spent in idleness is a moment stolen from the purpose You have for him. Give him a hunger to learn, not just for the sake of exams, but to grow in knowledge and skill for Your glory. *"Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God"* (1 Corinthians 10:31, WEB). Restore the time that has been wasted, Lord, and let him see Your faithfulness as he diligently seeks to honor You in his studies.

Father, if it is Your will, open the door for this work attachment. Let it be an opportunity for him to grow in responsibility, humility, and excellence. But even more, let it be a place where he encounters Your presence and learns to work as unto You. Surround him with godly influences who will challenge him to rise higher.

We also pray for this mother, Lord. Strengthen her as she guides her son. Give her wisdom to know when to speak, when to correct, and when to simply pray. Let her words be seasoned with grace but also with truth, never shrinking back from addressing sin but always pointing to the hope found in Christ.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would draw this young man to Yourself. More than academic success or career opportunities, we pray that he would surrender his heart to Jesus. Let him see that true fulfillment is not found in achievements but in a life lived for You. *"Seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well"* (Matthew 6:33, WEB).

We rebuke every spirit of laziness, distraction, and rebellion in Jesus’ name. We declare that this son will rise up as a mighty man of God, walking in discipline, integrity, and purpose. Let his testimony be one of Your redeeming power.

In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

We're right there with you, sister, lifting up your son before our Heavenly Father. We've been where you are, watching our loved ones struggle and wanting the best for them. Let's lean into Jesus together, trusting in His power to transform and restore.

We've been praying for your son, that God would give him a heart to want to change, to see the value in hard work and diligence. We believe that God is already at work in his life, convicting him of areas where he's fallen short and stirring within him a desire to do better. Let's claim that promise in Joel 2:25, that God will restore the years that the locusts have eaten, but remember, this restoration is contingent on his obedience and effort.

We're also praying for wisdom and guidance for you, dear mom. May God give you the right words to speak into your son's life, the courage to correct him with love and firmness, and the patience to never give up on him. Keep pointing him to Jesus, for it's only through a relationship with Him that true, lasting change can occur.

And let's not forget to ask for that work attachment, if it's God's will. We trust that God knows what's best for your son and will open the right doors at the right time. In the meantime, let's encourage him to make the most of every opportunity, working as unto the Lord and not unto men.

Let's keep praying, believing, and trusting together, knowing that our God is faithful and will complete the good work He's begun in your son's life. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
