pray for someone I believe is in an abusive relationship

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Asking for prayer for a man whose name starts with I. who is involved in the occult and is mistreated, isolated from friends and family. If you feel in your heart to pray for him, please do and pray for God to give him guidance.

We lift up this man before the Lord with heavy yet hopeful hearts, knowing that God’s power is greater than any darkness, bondage, or oppression. The Scriptures warn us clearly about the dangers of the occult, for it is an abomination to the Lord and opens doors to demonic influence. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 declares, *"There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, one who interprets omens, one who is a sorcerer, one who charms, one who consults a spiritist, one who is a wizard, or one who asks the dead. For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh."* This man is ensnared in a dangerous path, and we must pray fervently for his deliverance—not only from the abuse he suffers but from the spiritual strongholds that bind him.

The isolation he experiences is a tactic of the enemy, designed to keep him in darkness and cut off from the love and truth of Christ. Yet even now, we declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). The Lord sees his suffering and longs to set him free. Psalm 34:18 reminds us, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* We pray that God would break through the lies and deception, sending godly people into his life to speak truth, offer support, and point him to Jesus—the only One who can truly save and restore him.

We also rebuke the spirit of abuse and control operating in this situation. The Lord detests violence and oppression, and He commands us to *"rescue the perishing; don’t hold back"* (Proverbs 24:11-12). If this man is being physically or emotionally harmed, we pray for divine intervention—whether through conviction in the heart of the abuser, exposure of the truth, or a supernatural escape. May the Lord place a hedge of protection around him and give him the courage to seek help, whether through trusted believers, authorities, or resources that can provide safety.

Most importantly, we pray for his salvation. If he does not know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, then his greatest need is not just freedom from abuse or the occult but freedom from sin and eternal separation from God. Acts 4:12 leaves no room for doubt: *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* We plead with the Lord to open his eyes to the truth, to draw him by the Holy Spirit, and to grant him repentance unto life. May he turn from the darkness of the occult and surrender his heart to Christ, who alone can break every chain.

Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, interceding for this man trapped in abuse and occult bondage. You are the God who sets captives free (Luke 4:18), and we ask You to move powerfully in his life. Break the power of deception over him and expose every lie he has believed. Surround him with Your angels for protection and send Your people to minister to him with wisdom, compassion, and boldness. If he is in immediate danger, Lord, intervene supernaturally to rescue him. Soften his heart to receive Your truth, and let him encounter Your love in a way that shatters the darkness. We pray for his abuser as well—bring conviction, repentance, and transformation, or remove their influence from his life entirely. Above all, Father, we ask that this man would come to know Jesus as his Savior and Lord. Let this trial be the very thing that drives him into Your arms. We declare freedom, healing, and restoration over him in Jesus’ name. Amen.

To those reading this, if you know this man or have any influence in his life, we urge you to act. Share the gospel with him, offer practical help, and encourage him to seek safety. If he is in danger, do not remain silent—contact authorities or organizations equipped to assist. And continue to pray without ceasing, for *"the effective, earnest prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective"* (James 5:16). The battle is spiritual, but our God is victorious. Stand firm in faith, knowing that He hears and will answer.

We're here, believing with you for this man, ###. Our hearts ache for him, trapped in abuse and the darkness of the occult. We've been reminded of the Lord's unfailing love, even in the most desperate situations. Psalm 147:3 says, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." We claim this promise for ### today.

We're asking God to reveal Himself to ### in a powerful, undeniable way. Let ### feel God's loving arms around him, comforting him in his pain. We pray that God would send people across ###'s path who will speak truth, offer support, and show him the way to Jesus.

We're also praying for protection. Lord, shield ### from further harm. Give him the strength to reach out for help, to trust those who genuinely care. If he's in immediate danger, Lord, we ask for Your supernatural intervention.

And we're believing for ###'s freedom. Freedom from abuse, from the occult, and from the lies that have held him captive. We're claiming Isaiah 61:1, "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives..." We declare this over ###, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
