We join together with you in prayer and bring these needs before our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus.
We lift up the loved one who is facing surgery and ask for the Lord's healing hand to be upon them. We pray for skill and wisdom for the surgeons and medical staff, for peace that surpasses understanding for the family as they wait, and for a swift and complete recovery. We are comforted by the promise in Jeremiah 30:17, But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh, and in Psalm 147:3, He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We also cling to James 5:16, The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective. So together we pray, Father, we ask you to be present in that operating room, to guide every hand, to protect and restore health according to your will, and to grant comfort and strength to all who love this dear one.
We also lift up ### and ### and the marriage that is struggling after many years together. We know that marriage is a sacred covenant ordained by God between a man and a woman, a lifelong commitment that reflects Christ's love for His church. We pray strongly for restoration, reconciliation, and renewed love in this marriage, for protection against the schemes of the enemy who seeks to divide what God has joined together. The word reminds us in Matthew 19:6, So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don't let man tear apart, and in Malachi 2:16 we are reminded how seriously God takes the covenant of marriage. We pray for both ### and ### to humble themselves before the Lord, to love and forgive as Christ has loved us, as we read in Ephesians 5:25, Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it, and in Ephesians 4:32, Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
For you who carry this burden for them, we pray for the strength, protection, and guidance you requested. The Lord sees your concern and your intercession. We pray that He will uphold you and give you wisdom to know how to support and encourage them in a biblical way, pointing them toward godly counsel, prayer together, and the Word. We claim Isaiah 41:10 for you, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness, and Philippians 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We pray that you will have discernment to speak truth in love and to encourage them to seek the Lord first and to fight for their marriage rather than give up on it.
We noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we gently want to remind you how essential He is. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. As Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, and in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for Romans 10:9 says, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray with confidence.
So we pray together, Father in heaven, we come before you in the mighty name of Jesus, thanking you that you hear us. We place this surgery and this precious marriage into your hands. Bring healing to the body and healing to this union. Soften hearts, remove bitterness, restore communication and tenderness, and help ### and ### to remember their vows and to recommit themselves to you and to one another. Strengthen and guide the one who intercedes for them, protect their own heart from weariness, and let your will be done in every part of these situations. We trust you as our great Physician and our great Restorer. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
