Pray for peace and love

Doimar

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my son, ###, to soften his hurt from anger and resentment, from anxiety and depression. May he realize that he is being loved and supported by his family and friends.

We lift up ### to You, Father, with heavy hearts, knowing the weight of anger, resentment, anxiety, and depression that he carries. The Scriptures remind us in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Lord, we ask that You draw near to him in this time of struggle. Soften his heart, melt away the bitterness, and replace it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Let him feel the love and support of his family and friends, but more importantly, let him feel Your love, which is unshakable and everlasting.

We rebuke the spirit of anger and resentment in Jesus’ name, for Ephesians 4:31-32 tells us, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." Father, we pray that ### would release these burdens to You, trusting that You are working all things together for his good (Romans 8:28). Help him to forgive those who may have wronged him, just as You have forgiven him.

We also pray against the spirits of anxiety and depression that seek to steal his joy and hope. Your Word declares in 1 Peter 5:7, "Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." Lord, we ask that You lift the heaviness from his heart and replace it with the hope that comes from knowing You. Remind him that he is never alone, for You have said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). Fill him with Your peace, joy, and the assurance that his life has purpose and meaning in You.

Father, we ask that ### would come to know You more deeply if he does not already. For it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to You and the hope of salvation. John 14:6 tells us, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" If ### has not yet surrendered his life to You, we pray that he would do so today. Let him experience the freedom and new life that comes from being born again in Christ (John 3:3). May he find his identity, worth, and strength in You alone.

We declare over ### that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that he is loved beyond measure, and that his future is bright in You. We speak healing over his mind, body, and spirit, and we ask that You surround him with godly influences who will encourage and uplift him. May he walk in the fullness of Your purpose for his life, free from the chains that have held him back.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We're joining you in prayer for your son. It's heavy to watch someone you love carry so much pain, and we can hear how much you want him to truly feel the love that surrounds him.

One thing that helps us when a loved one is wrapped up in anger is remembering that anger is often a guard, not the real wound. Underneath all that fire is usually something softer, hurt, disappointment, or a deep fear of being unseen. Your son's anger and resentment may actually be a sign of just how much things matter to him and how deeply he's been hurt. Sometimes knowing that can help us respond to the person's pain instead of reacting to their walls.

For now, the most powerful step may be the quietest one: just keep showing up. Not with lectures or solutions, but with your steady, unhurried presence. A simple text that says "thinking of you, no need to reply" or an offer to grab coffee with no agenda. When someone is convinced they're alone, consistency slowly challenges that lie without a single word needing to be argued. He doesn't have to agree that he's loved for the love itself to keep doing its work.

We pray with you now:

Father, we lift this son to You. You see the hurt beneath his anger and the weariness behind his anxiety. Meet him in those hidden places. Give him moments of unexpected peace that crack open the door to hope. Surround him with tangible reminders of love and support, and give him eyes to see them. Strengthen this family with patience and courage as they wait and love and keep showing up. We trust You to do what only You can do in his heart. In Jesus' name, amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It is the mind which is the main thing, it will bring you daylight or midnight, wealth or poverty, peace or war. Have you not found out yet, I have, that the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty, unfits you to meet that difficulty? When He chides us for withholding our love-tokens, it is because He values our love and is grieved when it grows cold. If the Lord did not love us very much, He would not care so much about our love towards Him. Only true love knows how to burn with jealousy.

You will keep him in perfect peace, peace, peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within. Great peace have they which love Your Law, and nothing shall offend them. When you love God's Word, your love is not wasted upon an unworthy object. To love the Law is to cease from covetousness and to cease from covetousness is great peace. It is of no use to quarrel with God. Bear your sorrow with Him and then see what peace, what perfect peace, you will enjoy, even with sorrows surging round.

Every child of God knows the love of Christ, but all do not know this love to the same extent. When we know that love, we see every mercy coming from that love. Our Lord challenges our friendship and our love: Eat, O friends; drink, yes, drink abundantly, O Beloved! We are not true to our Lord as we ought to be, and therefore He asks us again, and again, and yet again, Do you love Me? Do you love Me? Do you love Me? And if we are grieved that He asks the question a third time, let us not be slow in answering. His love is my love. His Presence is my Heaven.

Our love to Christ makes us long to see our children love Him, too. In Jonathan's great love, he wished not only to be David's friend, himself, but that all his children should be in love with the same valiant hero. Let him look his Savior in the face and say, "Do not I love You, O my Lord? Behold my heart and see." Let him tell the Savior why he loves Him, rehearsing His deeds of grace. For God to love me, for the Infinite, for the inconceivably lovely One, for Him to love me, this is a miracle indeed. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you. Jesus calls us to Heaven's perfect peace.

Consider the depth of God’s love for your son. You ask for peace and love to soften a heart hardened by anger, resentment, anxiety, and depression. This is a plea that reaches the very heart of our faith, for what is the Gospel but the astonishing news that the Infinite Majesty loved dust and ashes, ungrateful sinners who had offended Him without cause, and loved us so greatly that He gave not a servant, not an angel, but His only begotten Son? Such love passes human measure. If God so loved the world, then every soul, including your son’s, is pursued by a love that never grows weary.

Yet see how these passions you name, anger, resentment, anxiety, are chains that bind the soul. The lowly man is seized by no passion; no anger can much trouble him, no envy, no jealousy. But the boastful and proud heart is like a worm crawling in the mire, forever troubled by such things. Your son’s hurt does not arise from a mere sickness of the mind; it is the fruit of a soul that has not yet made room for the love that casts out fear. He feels alone, yet he is surrounded by family and friends who long to support him. The tragedy is that he does not perceive what is truly present. And so you, as his mother, must continue to love him, not with a weak and wavering affection, but with a love that suffers long and is kind, a love that does not behave itself unseemly, that is not easily provoked. This very love is a reflection of the divine love that will not let him go.

Pray then not only for a change in his feelings, but for him to be brought to the glorious and ineffable life that is in Christ alone. He who eats of that heavenly bread and drinks of that cup dwells in Christ, and though he die, he shall not perish. The life of which I speak is not this common life shared by unbelievers, but the life that triumphs over death and every dark passion. Urge your son, gently and persistently, to turn his eyes to the cross. There he will see the price paid for his peace. The Son of God was made perfect through sufferings to bring many sons to glory. If the Captain of our salvation was not spared the cup of sorrow, shall we refuse the medicine that heals the soul? Your son must learn that to be loved by God and man is not an occasion for pride, but for humble gratitude. For nothing so produces love as for the beloved to know that the one who loves him exceedingly desires his love in return.

Cleave to the things spiritual, and overlook the things of the world that breed anxiety. The love of Christ, once it takes root, calms the tempest within. And if your son resists, remember the apostle’s command: bind him that has transgressed until he has appeased God. Not with harsh chains, but with the bond of prayer and loving correction, lest the indissoluble chains of God’s judgment await him. Do not grow weary in interceding. As Paul made room in his heart for those he loved, so you must widen your heart in prayer, until your son finds that the narrowness of his own soul is broken open by the immensity of love that you and all the saints press upon him. Trust that the One who began this work of love in your family will complete it, and that your son, delivered from the mire, will at last know the peace that surpasses all understanding, the reward of a life hid with Christ in God.
