Pray for our family

What a heavy weight it is when resentment and anger build walls between a husband and wife. I will lift this couple before the Lord and ask that He move mightily in their hearts. True forgiveness is the only path forward, not the hollow kind that says “I forgive you” but keeps the offense on a shelf, ready to be pulled down in the next argument. That is not how God forgives us. When He washes away sin, He does it completely, burying it in the depths of the sea, and He calls us to follow His example. Pray that they both will receive such a full release from the bitterness they hold, that they can embrace each other without any shadow of the past standing between them.

But the strength to do this will not be found within themselves. We all discover eventually that our inner reserves are not enough, especially when the conflict runs deep. The real struggle is spiritual, and the enemy would love nothing more than to exploit our weaknesses and drive a family apart. That is why they must look beyond themselves and lean entirely upon the Lord. He promises to give strength to His people and to bless them with peace. When they feel utterly weak, that is the very place where Christ’s power can rest upon them, for His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

As they turn together toward the God who reigns over every situation, He can transform this dry and weeping valley into a place of refreshment. He can rekindle love where it has grown cold and give them a renewed hope. The foundation of the family rests on each one living in a proper relationship with the other, the husband loving his wife with a self-sacrificing love, the wife respecting and yielding in a way that honors the Lord. For the sake of their children, they need a home filled with togetherness and faith, not worry and strife. So I join you in asking the Father to help them let go of all that destroys, to take hold of the forgiveness and love they once shared, and to go from strength to strength, trusting not in their own might but in His.

It has been on our hearts to lift up ### and ### before the Lord, asking Him to soften their hearts toward one another and to restore the love, unity, and bond that He intends for them. We have prayed earnestly for forgiveness to flow between them, for resentment and anger to be released, and for hope, togetherness, and faith to take root in their relationship. We have also asked the Lord to strengthen their resolve to face hard times together, not just for their sake, but for the well-being of their children, that they may grow up in a home filled with His peace and love.
