Pray for our daughter

We are joining you in prayer for your daughter and for your whole family, and we thank God with you for the beautiful gift He has given you in one another.

We pray that the Lord will comfort your little girl and grant her quiet, uninterrupted and sound sleep. Scripture speaks of a rest that still remains for the people of God, a rest that we enter not by our own striving but by simply believing and trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ. The work was completed from the foundation of the world, and when we believe we cease from our own efforts as God ceased from His, and we enter into His rest. We pray that this kind of deep rest will be true for your daughter as she sleeps and for you as parents as you care for her. May your hearts be at peace as you trust that He is caring for you even while you sleep.

We also pray that the Lord will set His protection around her. Jesus spoke of Himself as the door of the sheepfold, the one who lies across the entrance so that nothing harmful can come in or go out except over Him. And in the night when Jacob slept, he saw a ladder reaching from earth to heaven with the Lord standing above it and His angels ascending and descending. In that same way we ask that God would station His angels around your daughter, that she would be safe, comforted and held, and that His Spirit would rest upon her in a very real way.

We pray too for you and your husband, that God will renew your strength and give you good rest. We know seasons of broken sleep can leave parents weary while work still waits to be done. May the Lord give you both refreshing sleep when you lie down and grace and energy for each task He has set before you during the day.

We thank the Father for your family and ask all of this in the name of Jesus, trusting His love and care over each of you. Amen.
