Business Life
The Botany of the Bible; or, God Among the Flowers
We lift you and your daughter before the Lord together and we hear the weight you carry as a single mother wanting to see your daughter walk in wisdom and wanting to provide faithfully through your work.

We are praying for your daughter that God would open her eyes and renew her way of thinking. Scripture tells us Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2. We ask God to give her a desire for truth and diligence and to turn her heart toward Him and toward the future He has for her. We also remember the promise Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it Proverbs 22:6. Keep continuing to teach her, pray with her, encourage her and guide her patiently even when she struggles in school. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5. We pray she will seek wisdom from above and that the Lord will help her to apply herself, to grow in understanding and to use her education for His glory.

We also join you in prayer for your sales role and for provision. We know God cares about your daily needs and your desire to do work for the Kingdom. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23. We pray you will work with integrity and excellence as unto Christ and that He will establish the work of your hands. We pray for favor with your employer, for wisdom in each conversation, for doors to open, and for this role to be secured so you can pay your bills and have margin to serve Him. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. He is a father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation Psalm 68:5, and He sees you and your daughter and will not forsake you. Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you Isaiah 41:10.

We want to gently share something we noticed, your request spoke of God but did not mention Jesus. We come to the Father only through Jesus, for Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is only by putting our trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, that we have access to God and eternal life. If you have not already, we encourage you to call upon His name and to lead your daughter to know Him as well, for that is the greatest change of life and thinking that can happen.

So we pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ. We lift this mother and her daughter to You. Lord open the eyes of this young girl, soften her heart, renew her mind and draw her to Yourself. Help her to love learning, to be diligent, to respect her mother and to walk in Your ways. Give this mother wisdom to guide her daughter with grace and truth, and strength not to grow weary. Lord we ask for Your provision over this sales role, grant skill, favor and success, that she may provide for her household, pay every bill and have opportunity to do work for Your Kingdom. Supply her needs, give her peace, and let her see Your faithful hand. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to keep praying daily with your daughter, to read Scripture together, to help her with practical support for school such as tutoring and consistent study habits, and to keep entrusting both her future and your work to the Lord who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask.

We can hear how much you are holding right now, caring for your daughter and trying to keep everything steady at work. It makes sense you feel worried when you see her grades slipping and wonder what it means for her future.

Wanting God to open her eyes and shift her thinking is a loving prayer. Sometimes a change in thinking grows slowly as she feels heard and supported, not just pressured about grades. One small next step that often helps is to ask her school for a short check-in with one teacher or counselor who knows her well, just to hear what they are seeing and what one or two doable supports might be. At home, a calm few minutes to ask her what feels hardest about school right now, without trying to fix it in that moment, can open the door a bit more than lectures about the future.

We also hear the pressure around your sales role and wanting to provide and to serve God through your work. That is a lot to carry as a single mom. If you can, clarifying with your manager what success looks like in these next weeks can help you focus your energy where it matters most.

We are with you in this.

Father, we lift this mom and her daughter to You. Draw her daughter close, give her clarity and willingness to learn, and give her mom wisdom, peace and strength for each day. Provide for their needs through her work and keep them close to You. In Jesus name, amen.

Your burden for your daughter and for your daily provision has been heard, and we join with you in bringing it before the throne of grace.

The Lord knows the care of a mother, for in His wisdom He has given to mothers a peculiar influence in forming the character of their children. He sees your love, your labor, and your concern for her future, and He is not unmindful of your tears. Even as Job in his affliction was upheld when all seemed lost, so the Lord is able to uphold you in this trial and to turn sorrow into joy in His own time, for our longest sorrows have a close and there is a bottom to the profoundest depths of our misery when God has accomplished His purpose.

We pray for your daughter, that the Lord who alone can change the heart would open her eyes. While struggling after purity and wisdom she will soon discover that she is unable to reach it of herself, but Christ is able to give what we cannot attain. May He grant her a renewed mind, a love for truth, diligence in her studies, and a heart that seeks Him above all. May He make her way of thinking to be conformed to His Word, and give her freshness of strength, as fresh oil, to walk in the right path.

We pray also for you in your work, that God in His providence would give you skill, favor, and steadiness in your sales role. May He establish the work of your hands, provide for your bills, and keep you from anxious fear. You desire not only provision but to do work for the kingdom, and that desire is pleasing to Him. Ask Him for a tender and faithful heart in your calling, and trust that He who clothes the fields will care for His own.

Be patient as Job was patient, and keep right with God even when the burden is heavy. He did but display the skirts of His robe to Job, yet Job bowed and worshipped, and in the end the Lord turned again his captivity. Come to Him in childlike confidence even when He seems to frown, for through Jesus Christ alone we have access and salvation, and He hears the prayers of those who trust in His Son.

May the Lord grant you peace in believing, sustain you day by day, and show His gracious hand upon both you and your daughter. We continue to pray that He will guide her, strengthen you, and supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
