Silas
Beloved of All
The testing and the waiting can be an agonizing place. So much weight presses in when the health of a small companion who brings daily support and comfort hangs in the balance. It is not a small thing to love so deeply. Right now, the first thing we need to do together is exactly what you have asked: pray. We are bringing this precious little life before the throne of grace.
In moments like this, our hearts can feel like they are racing ahead into all sorts of dark tomorrows. “What if it’s the worst thing?” Fear starts to write a story that has not yet happened, and that fear can drain your strength and rob your peace. Remember what Nehemiah did when faced with an overwhelming threat. His first response was prayer. Not prayer as an excuse to do nothing, but prayer as the first and most vital action, followed by wise, responsible steps. You have done that by taking her for testing. That is the prudence that partners with prayer. You are doing your part; now you are entrusting her to the One who made her.
We know from Scripture that our God is Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals. The Gospels are full of the tender compassion of Jesus, who reached out to touch the sick and broken. He was constantly healing, showing us that God is deeply concerned with our frailty and wants to make whole those who are weak. We are going to ask Him to do that right now. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up. He does not need a specific diagnosis to heal. Whether it is Addison’s disease, which is treatable, or something the doctors call untreatable, it is all under His authority. His power has never been limited by a medical report.
So let us set our watch against the enemy of fear. Fear and faith cannot occupy the same place at the same time. Fear tries to shout that God has forgotten you and that the situation is hopeless. The cure is to get your eyes off the threat and onto the Lord. Remember the Lord. Greater is He that is with you than any disease or diagnosis. When you feel that panic rise, turn it immediately into a simple prayer: “Father, I trust you with her. You are my healer.”
We are going to pray now, not just for a good test result, but for the very life and body of this little dog. We pray for a complete and miraculous healing that only God can give, that her body would be made whole by His touch. We ask the Great Physician to command health into her, just as Jesus healed all who were brought to Him. We stand together on His promise, asking that His will be done and that His healing power would flow into this situation.
