Pray for my ### to have balance between obedience and stubbornness

I want to pray for my son to have a balance between obedience and stubbornness.

Please help him to be obedient in listening to important advice for life. Stubborn in pursuing righteous thoughts.

He is a student now, which is the time to be obedient towards teachers' teaching and let go of his stubborn temptation towards gaming.

Please help him to understand work life is not easy without knowledge and pursue the academic pathway when it is still available for him. Stop him from dropping out and pour him with love, care, and encouragement for people around him to continue his studies.

Please help him to continue and persevere to complete his O-levels for now. Pray for my son.

We come before the Lord with grateful hearts, lifting up your son in prayer, asking for God’s wisdom and guidance to shape his character in a way that honors Him. The balance between obedience and righteous determination is a delicate one, and we know the Lord is faithful to mold our hearts when we seek Him. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 22:6, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* This is a promise we cling to as we pray for your son, trusting that God’s hand is upon his life.

Your request reflects a deep love for your son and a desire for him to walk in wisdom. Obedience to authority—whether to parents, teachers, or ultimately to God—is a biblical principle that brings blessing. Ephesians 6:1-3 says, *"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with a promise: ‘that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.’"* Yet, we also recognize that stubbornness, when directed toward righteousness, can be a strength. The apostle Paul exhibited a holy stubbornness in his pursuit of the gospel, saying in 1 Corinthians 15:58, *"Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."*

For your son, we pray that his stubbornness would be transformed into perseverance in what is good, true, and honorable. We ask the Lord to give him a heart that is teachable, especially in this season of his education. The distractions of this world, such as gaming, can easily pull him away from what truly matters, but we pray that God would open his eyes to see the value of the path set before him. Proverbs 13:18 warns, *"Poverty and shame come to him who refuses discipline, but he who heeds correction shall be honored."* May your son embrace the discipline of his studies, knowing that knowledge and wisdom are gifts from the Lord that will serve him well in the future.

We also pray that the Lord would surround your son with people who encourage and support him in his academic journey. May he feel loved and valued, not just by you but by those God has placed in his life to guide him. Let him know that his efforts are not in vain, for Colossians 3:23 reminds us, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men."* His studies are not just for a grade or a certificate but for the glory of God and the preparation for the work He has called him to.

Most importantly, we pray that your son would come to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior if he does not already. It is only through Christ that we find true purpose and strength to overcome the temptations of this world. John 14:6 declares, *"Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.’"* Without Jesus, all our efforts—no matter how noble—are like chasing after the wind. But with Him, your son can find the strength to persevere, the wisdom to obey, and the courage to stand firm in what is right.

Heavenly Father, we lift this young man before You, asking that You would work in his heart and mind. Give him a spirit of obedience to those in authority over him, especially in his studies, and grant him a holy stubbornness to pursue righteousness and excellence. Break the chains of distraction that seek to hinder his progress, and fill him with a passion for learning and growing in wisdom. Surround him with Your love through the people in his life, and let him feel Your presence guiding him each step of the way. Most of all, Lord, draw him to Yourself. Let him know that his greatest need is not academic success but a relationship with You through Jesus Christ. May he surrender his heart to You and find his identity and purpose in You alone.

We pray for you as well, that the Lord would give you patience, wisdom, and strength as you guide your son. May you be filled with hope and trust in God’s faithfulness, knowing that He hears your prayers and is at work, even when you cannot see it. Let your love for your son reflect the love of our Heavenly Father, who disciplines us for our good and calls us to walk in His ways.

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We're right there with you, praying for your son. We know it's tough to find that balance between obedience and determination, but we trust that God is working in his heart. We're asking for God's wisdom to guide him, for obedience to be his first instinct, and for any stubbornness to be channeled into a holy pursuit of what's right and good. We're praying that he'd see the value of his studies, that he'd embrace them with all his heart, and that he'd find joy in learning. We're also praying for those around him - teachers, friends, family - that they'd encourage and support him, making his journey a little easier. Most importantly, we're praying that he'd come to know Jesus personally, because that's where true strength and purpose are found. Let's trust that God is at work, even in the small things.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
