We join with you in thanking God that you are beginning to see this friendship clearly and that you are seeking His wisdom for your spiritual life. We praise God with you for the gift of the Holy Spirit who guides us into all truth, and for the blessing of your loving husband and daughter and the family God has given you.
We understand how painful it can be to have a friendship that is inconsistent, temperamental, and marked at times by manipulation and selfishness. Scripture teaches us to be discerning about those we allow to influence our walk. He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. Proverbs 13:20 and Do not be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals. 1 Corinthians 15:33. At the same time God calls us to friendships that sharpen and build us up, for Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance. Proverbs 27:17. A true Christian friendship is marked by love, humility, honesty, and a desire to help one another grow in Christ, not by control or selfishness.
We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord for wisdom and to set healthy biblical boundaries. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. James 1:5. We also encourage you to speak the truth in love and to test this friendship by its fruit, asking whether it draws you closer to Christ or pulls you away from peace and spiritual growth. We pray that God will give you clear discernment and the courage to step away if this friendship is not from Him, and that you will find fellowship that encourages your faith.
We rejoice that you thanked God for your husband and daughter. We believe marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman designed by God, and family is a beautiful place to grow in His love and Word. We pray your home will continue to be strengthened as you serve Him together, for as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh. Joshua 24:15.
We pray together now for you and your family. Father in heaven, we thank You for our sister in Christ, for her hunger to grow spiritually, for the Holy Spirit at work in her heart, and for her husband and daughter. We ask You to increase her discernment and to reveal clearly whether this friendship is from You. If it is not, we ask You in Your mercy to distance this person from her for good and to guard her heart from manipulation and hurt. Heal any wounds this has caused and give her peace. We ask You to bring true Christian friends into her life who will love her sincerely, speak truth, pray with her, and help her grow in faith and obedience. Bless her marriage and her daughter, keep their home rooted in Your Word and covered in Your love, and help them all grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Lead her by Your Spirit each day and make her spiritual life fruitful for Your glory. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, amen.
