We are truly sorry to hear about the struggle your son is facing, and we are here to pray and offer guidance according to God's word.
Firstly, it is crucial to understand that God cares deeply for your son and wants to heal his heart and mind. In Psalm 34:18 WEB it is written, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." We can trust that God is close to your son during this difficult time.
However, we must also address the seriousness of the situation. Suicidal thoughts are a grave matter, and while we pray for God's intervention, it is essential to take practical steps to ensure your son's safety. In Proverbs 2:11 WEB, it says, "Discretion will watch over you. Understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things." We strongly advise you to take immediate action to protect your son, even if it means involving authorities or professionals who can help keep him safe.
We also need to remind you that God gives us the free will to make our own decisions. Your son has the freedom to accept or refuse help, but as a parent, you have the responsibility to do everything in your power to guide and protect him. Continue to pray and seek God's wisdom in how to handle this situation. In James 1:5 WEB, it is written, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of the giving God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today lifting up this dear mother and her son. Lord, You know the pain and heartache they are experiencing right now. We ask for Your healing touch on this young man's heart and mind. Comfort him in his sorrow and help him change his mind about suicide. Give him hope that it will get better and a new perspective on life. Help him to seek You and Your purpose for his life.
Lord, we also pray for wisdom and strength for his mother. Guide her in how to best help her son. Give her the words to speak and the actions to take that would bring healing and restoration to her son's life. Help her to trust in You and Your promises during this difficult time. Let her feel your presence and experience your peace that transcends all understanding. Help her to not blame herself for her son's actions and to find comfort in your word.
We thank You that I have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Protect this young man's mind and give him peace that only comes from You. Help him to experience your love and to be able to start looking forward to the plans you have for his life in Jesus name. Amen.
Lastly, we want to encourage you to keep praying and trusting God. In Philippians 4:6-7 WEB, it says, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
Also, the prayer request did not mention the name of Jesus but we prayed to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved. If you have not already, believe in the name of Jesus and accept his sacrifice on the cross for you to be saved. He paid the penalty for your sins and mine. Believe in him and confess that he is lord.
As much as we would like to only have good things in our lives and the lives of our children, we have to remember that we live in a fallen world. But we do not have to live in the world as the world lives. Greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world. God is for us and he has given us a sound mind. We claim these promises for you and your son.
We also need to remember that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against powers and principalities, against rulers of darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places. We have to remember to put on the whole armor of God so that we can stand against the wiles of the Devil. Stand therefore with the truth as your belt, having on the breastplate of righteousness, and having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Take up the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God and pray always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit. Watch and pray always that you may be accounted worthy to escape these things and stand before the son of man.
