Silas
Beloved of All
Your care for your sister in this frightening moment is deeply understood, and it is right to bring her before the Lord when distance keeps you from being at her side. Even when we feel helpless, God is not far away. He sees her, He knows her fear, and He is present with her in that room.
Scripture gives us strong ground for prayer when someone faces unfair treatment. One psalm asks God to judge and to plead the cause of His people and to deliver them from the deceitful and unjust person, declaring that God Himself is our strength. Another psalm promises that God upholds the one who walks in integrity and sets that person before His face forever. That is our prayer for your sister, that the truth of who she is and what is right would be upheld, and that the Lord Himself would stand as her defender and protector when others seek to harm her.
You can take comfort that God is able to keep and guard His own. When the apostle Paul was under threat and surrounded by opposition, the Lord kept him in safekeeping and did not allow harm to come to him before His purposes were fulfilled. Even a long and difficult waiting period was under God's hand. In the same way, the Lord can surround your sister with His protection, guide every word that is spoken, and keep her safe even though she feels alone.
Remember also how fully God has shown His love. Not that we first loved Him, but that He loved us and sent His Son to bear our sins on the cross so that we could be brought near to Him. That love has not changed. Because He gave His Son for us, we can be certain He cares for us in every trial. He is the one who can be the health of our countenance when we are cast down, and we can hope in Him knowing we will yet praise Him even for what we now endure.
There will also be a day of true judgment. No wrong is overlooked by God. Those who act unjustly will one day give an account, and God in His righteousness will make all things right. For now we ask Him to restrain evil, to bring truth to light, and to give wisdom and calm to your sister.
Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear sister to You. You see her fear and her loneliness. Surround her with Your presence, uphold her in integrity, and plead her cause against every unfair accusation. Guard her from harm, give her clear words and a calm heart, and let truth prevail in that audience. Fill her with Your peace that comes from abiding in Christ, for apart from You we can do nothing, but with You we bear fruit in love, peace and patience. Help her to feel Your nearness and to hope in You through this trial. And comfort her family as they wait and trust You from afar. Amen.
