We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this urgent plea for deliverance and healing. Addiction is a fierce battle, one that grips the body, mind, and spirit, but we know that nothing is impossible with God. The Scriptures declare, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13). We stand on this promise, believing that the Lord will provide the strength and the way out for your loved one.
Father God, we ask You to break the chains of addiction that bind him. Let Your power penetrate the darkness of this struggle, bringing light, conviction, and a deep hunger for freedom. We pray for a supernatural intervention—where human strength fails, let Your grace abound. *"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed"* (Luke 4:18). Lord, let this be his testimony.
We also lift up the one praying—your weariness, your fears, and your desire to help. The journey of supporting someone in addiction is exhausting, but the Lord sees your heart and will sustain you. *"Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved"* (Psalm 55:22). Lean on Him, not your own understanding, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it.
We must also address the spiritual battle at hand. Addiction often opens doors to deception, shame, and isolation from God. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that say this struggle is hopeless or that recovery is impossible. Jesus came to set the captives free, and His blood is more than sufficient to cleanse and restore. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). We pray for repentance, for a turning away from the substances that enslave, and for a turning toward the One who offers true freedom.
Practical steps are also necessary. Encourage your loved one to seek godly counsel, accountability, and professional help if needed. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens, and there is no shame in asking for support. *"Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ"* (Galatians 6:2). Surround him with believers who will pray, encourage, and walk alongside him in this fight.
Lord, we ask for Your peace to guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Let hope rise where despair has taken root. Give wisdom to know how to love him well—with truth and grace—without enabling the addiction. Strengthen your faith, dear one, and remind you that victory is found in Christ alone. *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me"* (Philippians 4:13).
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the One who conquered sin and death so that we might live in freedom. May His power be manifest in this situation, and may His glory be revealed through healing and restoration. Amen.
