Pray for my mother in law who is fighting for her life

Anonymous

Beloved of All
She suffering from head trauma busted vessel and not breathing on her own, dr said its 50/50 chance that she will make it and also having dialysis for her kidneys

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your mother-in-law in this critical time of need. Father God, we know that You are the Great Physician, the One who holds life and death in Your hands. We ask for Your healing touch to be upon her, to restore her body, mend the broken vessels in her brain, and breathe life back into her lungs. Lord, we trust in Your sovereignty, knowing that even when the odds seem impossible, nothing is too hard for You.

We pray for wisdom and discernment for the doctors and nurses attending to her. Guide their hands and minds, Lord, as they make decisions that will impact her life. We ask that You would strengthen her kidneys and restore their function, that she may no longer need dialysis. Father, we also pray for peace and comfort for her family during this time of uncertainty. May they feel Your presence surrounding them, giving them hope and strength to endure.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and despair in this situation, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that Your healing power is at work in her body, and we stand on Your promise that by Your stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Lord, we ask that You would perform a miracle in her life, that her story may be one of Your glory and faithfulness.

Father, if it is Your will, we ask that You would spare her life and restore her to full health. But above all, we pray that Your will be done, knowing that Your plans are perfect and Your ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). If her time on earth is coming to an end, we ask that You would welcome her into Your presence with open arms, free from pain and suffering. Comfort her family with the hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can approach You, and it is only through Him that we have access to Your throne of grace (John 14:6, Hebrews 4:16). Amen.

In this time of waiting and uncertainty, we encourage you to cling to the promises of God. The Bible tells us that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Lean on Him, for He is your ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Continue to pray without ceasing, and trust that God hears your cries and sees your tears. May He grant you the peace that surpasses all understanding as you wait on Him (Philippians 4:6-7).

We are holding your mother-in-law and your whole family close in our hearts right now. The waiting when someone you love is fighting for her life is exhausting and frightening, we hear the weight in your words, and we’re so sorry you are walking through this.

In these long hospital hours, it’s normal to feel helpless. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply be there. If the medical team allows, hold her hand, speak familiar words, let her know you are near. Your presence is a gift, even when she can’t respond. And please don’t try to carry this alone, let a trusted friend or someone from your church sit with you, pray with you, or just be quiet alongside you. A steady hand in the waiting room can anchor the heart when everything else feels out of control.

We’re asking God to move mightily on her behalf, to guide her doctors, support her body, and bring healing. But we’re also asking Him to hold you tight right now, whatever the next hours hold.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this dear mother-in-law who is clinging to life. You see every labored breath, every broken vessel, every struggle of her kidneys. We ask You to bring healing that surpasses the odds, to restore her strength, and to give the whole family a peace that goes beyond understanding. Surround them with skilled hands, kind faces, and a deep sense that You are with them. In Your name we pray, Amen.

The news you’ve just received lands with a weight that takes the breath away. A hospital room, machines breathing for someone you love, kidneys failing, a doctor’s measured words about odds, fifty percent. It’s the sort of hour when the floor seems to drop out from under everything familiar, and you’re left standing in a place you never asked to enter. I want you to know, right here at the start, that if you or anyone in your family feels overwhelmed to the point of not being able to cope, please reach out to your local emergency services right away. A listening ear can also be found through a helpline in your country at findahelpline.com.

But now sit down here a moment. Let’s breathe. You did not stumble into this by accident, and the Lord Jesus is not far off, fumbling for the key. He is already in the room.

You’re watching your mother-in-law fight, and you love her. That love is itself a mercy, a little flame the Spirit keeps burning even when everything else feels cold. You asked for prayer, and that tells me something: your heart is looking toward the One who holds life and death in His hands. That is no small thing. Desperation that turns toward Christ is a grace in disguise. The power of the Lord is present to heal, still, now, in that ICU bay, in that bed surrounded by monitors. Not a distant possibility but a present reality. His power does not evaporate when the case turns critical. It draws near. The Great Physician does not stand at the door waiting for the fever to break before He enters; He walks straight into the sickroom where the air is thick with trouble and He brings His peace with Him.

Fifty-fifty? The doctors speak as they must, and we are grateful for their skill. But your mother-in-law is not held in the scales of chance. She is held in the hands that were nailed to the wood for her. The Lord knows the number of her days because He appointed them in love before the first one dawned. When Jesus entered Peter’s house and found his wife’s mother burning with a great fever, He did not stand at the foot of the bed and lecture about suffering. He touched her hand, and the fever left her. The power that healed her has not run dry. It has not grown weak with the passing of centuries. Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and He is as near to your mother-in-law as He was to that woman in Capernaum.

I know the waiting is terrible. Minutes feel like hours when every breath depends on a ventilator. You study the faces of the nurses for clues. You replay the doctor’s words. It is a heavy mercy to be so keenly reminded that we are not in control, and yet it is mercy still. The Lord breaks the bars of our self-reliance so we learn to lean wholly upon Him. In the deep waters, when your feet cannot touch the bottom, you find that underneath are the everlasting arms.

He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds. The very thing that is crushing you, the love you have for her, the fear of losing her, He handles gently. He does not despise your tears. He bottled them. He is not impatient with your repeated prayers. The Spirit intercedes with groanings that cannot be uttered when words run out.

Perhaps you are thinking of your own weariness too. Supporting a spouse, making calls, sitting vigil, it drains you. Be of good cheer. The Lord does not only heal the sick; He carries the carers. Underneath the visible story of hospital machines and waiting rooms, there is a hidden one: God working in you, in your family, quickening faith in the valley of the shadow. Resurrection life begins in little ways before the final trumpet, trust that clings when all evidence seems contrary, a strange peace that settles in the middle of turmoil. These are the firstfruits of what He will complete.

For now, let me leave you with this: the Lord Jesus, who once spoke and the paralyzed man took up his bed and walked, who healed the nobleman’s son from a distance with a word, is not baffled by burst vessels or failing kidneys. His power to heal is undiminished, and His wisdom perfect. And if He should choose to heal by taking her home, do not think He has failed her, or you. He will be no less tender, no less sovereign, no less good. But for this hour, let your heart lean hard on Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think.

Let us pray.

Lord Jesus, You are the resurrection and the life. We bring this dear woman before You now, precious in her family’s sight, and precious beyond measure in Yours. You know every detail: the vessel that burst, the lungs that need help, the kidneys that strain. Speak the word, and let healing flow. Sustain her body. Steady those who watch and wait. Wrap this family in Your peace that passes understanding, and let them feel the grip of Your hand in the dark. For Your own name’s sake, be glorified in her and in them. Amen.
