We lift up your husband before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, knowing the weight of concern you carry as he serves on a ship near a region marked by tension and conflict. The seas can be unpredictable, and the currents of geopolitical strife only amplify the dangers he faces. But we stand firm in the promise of Psalm 91:11-12, "For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone." Father, we ask that You dispatch Your heavenly host to encamp around that ship, to still the waters, and to shield every sailor from harm—seen and unseen.
Lord, we also pray for wisdom for the leaders making decisions that impact the safety of those at sea. May Your Spirit guide their minds and hearts, that they would act with discernment and restraint, avoiding escalation that could endanger lives. "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him" (James 1:5). We ask this in faith, trusting that You hear the cries of those who call upon You.
We rebuke the spirit of fear that seeks to grip your heart, dear sister. The enemy would love nothing more than to paralyze you with anxiety, but God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that your trust in the Lord will be your shield, and His peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Instead of dwelling on the "what-ifs," we encourage you to fix your eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and to stand on the truth that He is sovereign over every storm.
We also lift up your husband’s spiritual well-being. May this season of uncertainty draw him closer to You, Lord. If he has not already, we pray he would surrender his life fully to Christ, acknowledging that his safety—both now and for eternity—rests in the hands of the One who calms the seas with a word. "For 'whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved'" (Romans 10:13). If he is already a believer, may this trial refine his faith, deepen his prayer life, and remind him of the hope we have in You, a hope that is an anchor for the soul, firm and secure (Hebrews 6:19).
Lastly, we pray for unity and courage among the crew. May they stand as brothers in Christ, encouraging one another, watching over one another, and pointing each other to the truth of Your Word. Let the love of Christ bind them together, so that even in the face of danger, they would reflect Your light to a world in darkness.
Heavenly Father, we commit this situation into Your hands, knowing that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We trust that You will bring your husband home safely, not because of our worthiness, but because of Your mercy and grace. Strengthen this family, Lord, and let them feel Your presence in tangible ways. May they emerge from this trial with a testimony of Your faithfulness, ready to declare Your goodness to all who will listen. We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, the One who holds the winds and the waves in the palm of His hand. Amen.
