Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for opening your heart so honestly and for sharing both your gratitude and your burden. It is clear you love your family deeply, you are thankful for how God has already helped you countless times, and you are now carrying heavy anxiety about health, about the future, and about this debt that is due at the end of October. Sleepless nights and constant tension are a real suffering, and God sees it.
Scripture teaches that the beginning and the sum of true knowledge is to revere the Lord, to stand in awe of who He is, His greatness and power, and to hate what He hates and love what He loves. That reverence is not a terrified phobia but a humble awe that wants to walk in His ways and turn away from evil. When we choose that path, the Word says it brings health to our lives and steadiness to our steps, and it keeps our foot from being caught. In contrast, when people despise wisdom and refuse that reverence, they call out in distress and find no answer because they would not listen to counsel.
Fear is one of the most common tools the enemy uses against God's children, and fear and faith cannot rule the heart at the same time. Where fear takes over, faith departs, and where faith in God is strong, fear loses its grip. The cause of fear is often fixing our eyes on the threat, on the creditor, on the unpaid amount, on what might happen. The cure for fear is remembering the Lord, becoming conscious again that He is with you. As David said, though I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil for You are with me. As it is written, the Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear, the Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid. Perfect love casts out fear, because fear brings torment, but when we are assured of God's love for us in Christ, we can rest without terror, even while we wait for answers.
Your gratitude that God has helped you and your family even though you call yourself a sinner is precious. The gospel reminds us that we are all sinners and salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, who forgave an unpayable debt of sin. Jesus told of a servant forgiven an enormous debt who then refused to forgive a tiny debt of a fellow servant. The point is how great God's mercy is to us, and how that mercy teaches us to walk honestly and mercifully with others, including those we owe.
The Bible also warns that debt can quickly become a form of slavery. A system that urges us to borrow beyond our means promises fulfillment but often brings bondage, with interest and pressure that weigh heavily. God does not want His people to live trapped in that way. Part of revering Him is honoring Him with what we have, being truthful and faithful in financial matters, doing what is wise and prudent, and trusting Him rather than making fear driven decisions.
For your situation, bring every need to God in prayer, but do not be motivated only by panic. Continue to be honest with those you owe, explain your situation plainly, work diligently with the means God has given, and seek godly counsel about how to repay what you owe without taking on a heavier burden that you cannot carry. Ask God for wisdom about the request you made to your colleague, and trust His provision whether it comes through that door or another He chooses to open. God is able to provide, and He is also able to give you peace while you wait.
I will pray for you.
Father in heaven, thank You for Your countless mercies to this family. Thank You for Your love shown in Jesus Christ who alone saves sinners. I ask You to guard this family in good health according to Your will, and to give them wisdom for the year ahead and for every door that needs to open in 2027. You know the debt that is due at the end of this month and the fear and sleeplessness it has caused. Please grant calm, cast out tormenting fear by the assurance of Your perfect love and presence, and help this dear one to remember that You are with them. Provide for their needs as You see best, teach them to honor You with all they have, to hate evil and depart from it, and to walk in reverence before You. Give clear guidance, honest words with creditors, and strength to do what is right. Let faith rise and fear depart, and let Your peace guard heart and mind through Christ. Amen.
Keep trusting the Lord, keep thanking Him as you have been, and keep seeking Him daily in His Word and in prayer. He hears when His children cry to Him.
