As you wait and trust, consider what true wisdom is doing in moments like this. Wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things we might desire cannot compare to her. When the body is weak or in pain, we often reach for facts or medical knowledge, and those have their place. But wisdom is the principal thing. Knowledge gives you the facts about an infection or a jaw, but wisdom gives life to those who have it. The fear of the Lord is where that wisdom begins, and it teaches us to lean on Him rather than our own understanding of how quickly recovery should come.
In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. His body was broken, and by those wounds we look for healing, both spiritual and physical. There is no need to narrow the work of the cross only to the forgiveness of sins, as if the Lord cared nothing for the body He made. When we partake of the bread and remember His body broken for us, we are reminded that He is the source of wholeness in every sense He deems best. True wisdom from above is pure and peaceable. It does not lead to striving or envy when answers seem slow. The wisdom of the world might boast of quick solutions that come to nothing, but the wisdom of God quietly preserves and keeps those who love her.
We pray that her jaw will open freely again, but we also pray that through this little affliction, she gains an understanding heart. That her faith would not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God, who has prepared good things for those who love Him.
