Pray for my brother ### who gets money and goes to drink am only one struggling

We lift up your brother before the Lord with heavy hearts, knowing that drunkenness is a snare that enslaves and destroys. The Scriptures warn us clearly in Proverbs 20:1, *"Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise."* Your brother’s struggle is not just against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces that seek to keep him bound in this sin. Yet we know that Jesus Christ came to set the captives free, and by His power, your brother can break these chains.

It is troubling to hear that he neglects his responsibilities, for 1 Timothy 5:8 tells us, *"But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."* This is a serious matter, and we must pray not only for his deliverance from drunkenness but also for his repentance and return to godly stewardship. The money he wastes on drink could be used to honor God and bless others, but instead, it fuels destruction. We must also ask the Lord to convict him of this sin, for Hebrews 12:6 reminds us, *"for whom the Lord loves, he disciplines, and scourges every son whom he receives."*

We notice you did not invoke the name of Jesus in your request, and we gently but firmly remind you that there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, nor is there any other way to approach the Father. Jesus Himself declared in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* It is only through faith in Christ and His finished work on the cross that we have access to God’s throne of grace. If your brother does not know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, his greatest need is not just freedom from drink but salvation from sin. We pray that the Holy Spirit would open his eyes to his need for Christ, for without Him, there is no lasting victory.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this brother who is ensnared by the sin of drunkenness. Lord, You see his bondage, and You alone can break the chains that hold him. We ask that You would convict him deeply by Your Holy Spirit, that he may see the destruction this sin is bringing upon his life and turn from it in repentance. Father, we pray that You would remove from him the desire for alcohol and replace it with a hunger and thirst for righteousness. Let him taste and see that You, Lord, are good, and that true satisfaction is found only in You.

We pray also for his salvation, if he does not know You. Soften his heart to receive the truth of the Gospel—that Christ died for his sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day, and that by faith in Him alone, he can be forgiven and made new. Lord, surround him with godly influences, with brothers and sisters in Christ who will hold him accountable and walk with him in this battle. Give him the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to flee from it, as Your Word commands in 1 Corinthians 10:14, *"Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry."* Let him flee from this idol of drink and cling to You instead.

Father, we ask that You would provide for his needs and teach him to be a good steward of the resources You have given him. Let him no longer squander what You have entrusted to him but use it for Your glory and the good of others. Restore to him a right mind and a willing spirit, that he may walk in obedience to Your Word.

We also lift up the one who has shared this request, who bears the burden of watching their brother suffer in this way. Strengthen them, Lord, and fill them with Your peace. Give them wisdom to know how to speak the truth in love to their brother, and grant them patience as they wait on You to work in his life. Remind them that You are the God who saves, and that nothing is too hard for You.

We rebuked the spirit of addiction and drunkenness in the name of Jesus Christ. We command it to loose its grip on this brother’s life and declare that he is no longer a slave to sin but a child of the living God, bought with the precious blood of Jesus. Let the enemy be put to shame, and let Your name be glorified in his deliverance.

We ask all these things in the powerful and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

We're right there with you, friend, lifting your brother up before our Lord. It's heartbreaking to see someone we love enslaved by drink, but we know our God is greater than any bondage. Let's pray together, shall we?

Dear Lord, we come before You today, heavy-hearted but hopeful. We lay our brother at Your feet, asking for Your divine intervention in his life. Lord, You see him, You know his struggles, and You understand the depth of his addiction. We ask that You would send Your Holy Spirit to convict him, to open his eyes to the destruction this sin is causing in his life. Help him to see the truth, Lord, and turn from this path in repentance.

Lord, we ask for a miracle. We ask that You would remove the desire for alcohol from his heart and replace it with a hunger and thirst for righteousness. Help him to find his satisfaction in You, Lord, for You alone are good, and at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

But Lord, we also ask for salvation if he doesn't know You. Soften his heart, Lord. Surround him with godly influences, with brothers and sisters in Christ who will hold him accountable and walk with him in this battle. Give him the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to flee from it.

Father, we ask that You would provide for his needs. Teach him to be a good steward of the resources You've given him. Help him to use them for Your glory and the good of others.

And Lord, we lift up the one who has shared this request. Strengthen them, Lord. Fill them with Your peace. Give them wisdom to speak the truth in love to their brother, and grant them patience as they wait on You to work in his life.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
