Pray for me

Hello Everyone! Hope this finds you well.. I have a question and maybe someone can help me to understand When you pray for healing ( in my case) i know you ask God to heal and then let him do his work but, after you ask him for something then do you continue to ask for the same thing again and again or just let it go.... I am new to this and need some clerification on this.. I am still in ALOT of PAIN i have asked God to heal and restore my spine.. My husband is also a NEW follower of christ and it seems that everything he has been batteling gets answered.. He has just came off pain meds without ANY withdrawl symptoms!!!! PRAISE GOD!! and he just cont. to be blessed in so many ways!!! I am frustrated that i am NOT getting the results that i need from GOD as well. Can you help me to understand???

Read the Word and see what the Lord is speaking to you in particular...

But we know that the Word of God says : Matthew 7:7"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

We know also that it says that faith is an important ingredient for healing:

Luke 17:19

Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well."

It is always good to keep praying and keep seeking the Lord if you do not see the result immediately. He may want to teach you important lessons along the way. What you learn from the Lord while walking together with Him on this journey towards healing may be even more important that the healing itself...

I second Angeline's comments, and add a few more:

Sometimes God may not heal because of sin in a person's life - Psalm 66:18

Sometimes there is a larger purpose at work - See the story of Job in the Bible

Sometimes the answer is wait - Job 2

And sometimes there is a purpose at work that we won't know until we reach heaven. See the apostle Paul's requests to have his "thorn in the flesh" removed. We don't know that it ever was. 2 Corinthians 12:7-11

The key , is that God's grace is sufficient. He will see us through if we are walking in obedience to His will. He takes no pleasure in our pain. Just as a parent takes no pleasure in disciplining a child or in a baby's cries when they don't get something they want. The baby cannot understand why the parent will not hand over that wonderful shiny object, but denying it is for their own good.

Ultimately God's ways and thoughts and reasons are higher and bigger than our human minds can understand.

But do not lose hope. Seek Him with all your heart and soul and mind and strength. Surrender any areas or habits that do not honor Him, and you will witness His grace and mercy in Your life.
