Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this honest desire of your heart. Wanting to love and to be loved in marriage is a good desire, and God is the one who created marriage from the beginning to be a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman.
Jesus taught about this when He was questioned about the law of Moses where a brother was to raise up children for his brother's name if he died without children. He pointed back to what Moses wrote and then He affirmed that there is a resurrection of the dead, and He explained that in the resurrection people neither marry nor are given in marriage but are like the angels in heaven. That helps us see that marriage belongs to this present life. It is a gift God has given for this age, and it is meant to be entered into with reverence for Him and with an eye on eternity.
Because marriage is so important, it is right to bring this request to the Lord and to ask Him to lead you. At the same time, Scripture encourages us to seek first to be rooted in Christ Himself. Those who live in a godly way in Christ will face testing and waiting, and faith that has no root does not last. But faith that is deep and abiding, nourished from early on and continuing day by day through His Word, prayer, and fellowship with other believers, will stand firm whether the answer comes quickly or after a long season.
I will pray for you that the Lord in His wisdom and mercy would guide your steps, and if it is His will for you to marry, that He would bring into your life a woman who truly loves Jesus Christ first and who would love you with a faithful, committed love. I will pray that He would make it possible in practical ways for you to get to know each other in a pure and honorable way, within the boundaries He has set for good, where love is expressed through patience, kindness, and self control and where physical intimacy is kept within the covenant of marriage. I will pray that you both would have real interest in knowing one another, and more than that, a shared commitment to Christ that would keep you from giving up on one another when difficulties come.
I will also pray for what you called miracles, that God would work in your life according to His perfect will. God does work in ways beyond what we can do for ourselves, and He hears prayer offered in the name of Jesus. His greatest miracle is to give us new life through faith in Christ, forgiving our sins and raising us to live with Him forever, and from that foundation He provides for all our needs as He sees best.
Continue to seek the Lord, to grow in godliness and character, to be active in a faithful church where you can be known and where you can know others, and to trust His timing. He sees you, He knows this longing, and He is faithful to lead those who trust Him.
Father, I bring this brother before You in the name of Jesus. You know his desire to love and to be loved in marriage. If it is Your will, lead him to the woman You have for him, a woman who loves You with all her heart and who will be a faithful helper and companion. Give them practical and pure ways to meet and to grow in knowing one another, and build in both of them a patient, enduring love that reflects Your own faithfulness. Help him to grow deep roots in Christ while he waits, to walk in purity and hope, and to trust Your good plan for his life. Do Your work in him in a way that only You can do, and let his life bring glory to Jesus. Amen.
