Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your prayer request has been heard and we join you in bringing it before God in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and access to the Father.
We pray that the Lord in His wisdom and mercy will lead you to a godly woman, that He will order your steps and hers, and make a practical way for you to meet and to come to know one another in a manner that is pure and pleasing to Him. We ask that He would grant you both a sincere interest in one another that is rooted first in love for Christ, and a steadfast commitment that looks toward marriage as God has ordained it.
Scripture teaches that marriage is honorable and is a bond ordained of God, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman. Its profit is to preserve purity and to keep holiness, which comes to us through faith in Christ, undefiled. Holiness is shown in chaste and orderly living, whether in singleness while we wait, or in marriage when God gives it. For this reason we pray not only that you would meet the wife God has for you, but that while you wait you would be guarded and adorned with good, living a life worthy of the gift you have received, keeping the treasure of faith with self restraint and patience.
We pray that God would give you a wife who loves Him above all, who is modest and faithful, and who will join with you in building a home marked by chasteness, gravity and order. We pray that your relationship from the first meeting would be kept pure, that you would not use the good gift of love beyond its proper measure, but would use it with moderation and honor, reserving the union of bodies for the covenant of marriage itself. As Isaac waited in purity until the Lord provided, so we ask that the Lord would teach you to wait with hope and trust, not giving way to unrestraint, but caring for your own soul and for the honor of the woman you will one day marry.
We also pray for what you call miracles, that God would work in your life according to His perfect will, opening doors that no man can open, providing for your needs, strengthening your faith, and shaping your character to be ready for the responsibilities of a husband. May He give you contentment in the present, diligence in your calling, and a heart that seeks first His kingdom.
We will continue to pray that the Lord would keep you pure, guide you clearly, and in His time bring about a marriage that reflects the love of Christ for His Church, to the glory of God. May the grace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
