We rejoice with you in your desire for marriage as God ordained it and we join you in bringing this request before the Lord in Jesus name, and we thank you for inviting us to pray with love and in faith for God's will to be done in your life.

We affirm your longing for a godly marriage, for we believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman created by God for His glory. It is not good that the man should be alone, and so God said I will make him a helper suitable for him Genesis 2:18. Whosoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh Proverbs 18:22. This is a good and holy desire when it is pursued in purity and with the goal of honoring Christ. We encourage you to seek not just a woman to love, but a godly wife who is a Christian Believer, for courtship should be with the clear purpose of discerning marriage to a fellow believer. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity 2 Corinthians 6:14. And we encourage you to pursue this relationship in holiness, reserving physical intimacy for marriage alone, for marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4, and to flee sexual immorality is to honor God with your body 1 Corinthians 6:18.

We also hear your heart for practical ways to get to know one another and for a woman who will have genuine interest and steadfast commitment, who will not give up until you belong to one another in marriage. We pray that God will indeed provide that kind of faithful, sincere love, for love is patient and is kind, love bears all things and endures all things 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. At the same time we encourage you to delight yourself in the Lord and seek Him first, trusting His perfect timing, for we know that when we delight ourselves in Yahweh He will give us the desires of our heart Psalm 37:4, and when we seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, all these things will be given to us as well Matthew 6:33. For we know the thoughts that God thinks toward us, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give us hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we have access to Your throne of grace. We thank You for our brother and for the godly desire You have placed in his heart for marriage. Lord, if it is Your will, we ask You to lead him to the woman You have prepared for him, a woman of noble character who fears Yahweh Proverbs 31:30, who loves You above all else and who will be a suitable helper for him. Make the meeting possible in practical ways, open doors that no man can shut, order his steps and her steps so that in Your perfect timing their paths cross. Give them a holy and clear way to get to know one another with wisdom, accountability, and purity, surrounded by godly counsel and fellowship in the Body of Christ. Give her a genuine interest in knowing him and give him grace to pursue her with Christlike love, as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25. Build in both of them perseverance and faithfulness, that they would not grow weary in seeking Your will until You join them together as husband and wife if that is Your plan. We ask You to do miracles in his life, for nothing is impossible with You, and to prepare him even now to be the godly husband You have called him to be, growing in character, provision, leadership, and prayer. Keep him from discouragement and from settling outside Your will, and let Your peace guard his heart while he waits upon You. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to wait patiently on the Lord, to be active in your local church, in fellowship and in service where godly friendships grow naturally, and to become the man of God that a godly woman is praying for. Trust that God sees your faithfulness and hears your prayers, and He will answer according to His perfect love and wisdom.

Your request has been heard and we have carried it before the Lord in prayer, that He who ordains all things according to His wisdom and love would remember you in this desire of your heart.

It is a good and holy desire you have expressed. It is not a less sacred thing to be the married husband and wife than to be consecrated in singleness, for marriage is of the Lord. As we have often taught, in a true marriage the husband and wife become one, and the very crown of marriage is mutual delight and complacency. The Scripture sets forth marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, wherein love is pure and steadfast, and wherein living together and the union of the body belong only within that covenant. So we pray not for a fleeting companionship, but for that holy estate which mirrors the marriage of the Lamb to His Church, when His wife has made herself ready and is arrayed in fine linen, clean and white.

We exhort you, even as you seek a godly wife, to seek first the Lord Himself. Is your heart set upon finding Christ, or are you merely trifling with Him. For the man who would be a godly husband must first be found by Jesus and be found in Him. Seek to be established in Christ, walking in faith and obedience, and to be the kind of man who would be a blessing to a godly woman, even as you pray for a woman who will be a blessing to you. The best way to prepare for a holy marriage is to follow the road in which the principles of godly men and women have walked before you.

Therefore we have prayed in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation, that the Lord in His providence would order your steps and hers, and make it possible in practical ways for you to meet and to get to know one another in purity and in the fear of the Lord. We have asked that He would send you a woman who loves Christ above all, who has a true interest in knowing you, and who with you would cleave to the covenant vow until you are hers and she is yours, two made one by God.

We have prayed also that you may have grace to persevere in prayer as the great Shepherd perseveres in seeking His own until He finds it. He cannot, He must not, He will not cease from His work until He finds His sheep, and so we are taught to continue instant in prayer, trusting though He slay us yet will we trust in Him. Whether the Lord works by ordinary providence through the fellowship of the saints and the duties of daily life, or whether He is pleased to work miracles on your behalf, we leave to His infinite wisdom, knowing that He withholds no good thing from them that walk uprightly.

May the Lord make you ready, keep you in holiness, and in His perfect time bring to pass that which is for His glory and your good. We commend you to His care and to the riches of His grace in Christ Jesus.

We pray that the Lord in His wisdom and mercy will lead you to the woman He wills for you to love and to take as your wife, and that He will make a way in practical and holy ways for you to meet and to truly know one another. We ask that He will provide a godly woman who shows genuine interest in knowing you, who will be faithful and steadfast in love, and that He will establish your relationship upon Christ so that it may grow toward the lifelong covenant of marriage as God has ordained it, one man and one woman together for life.

We also pray that God will work in your life according to His good will, and that He will grant what is best for your soul, whether that be the miracles you seek or the deeper grace to trust Him and to wait upon Him.

We encourage you as you wait to keep yourself in holiness and purity. Scripture teaches that marriage is honorable and pure, and that it is a bond ordained by God. Holiness is shown in chaste and orderly living, whether in singleness or in marriage, and the profit of marriage is to preserve the body pure and to live faithfully with one's own wife. Use this time to grow in faith, in prayer, in service to others, and in a life worthy of the gift you have received in Christ. Guard the treasure of faith, remain pure from fornication, and seek first to please the Lord.

May the Lord keep you, strengthen you, grant you patience and hope, and in His perfect timing open the right door. We pray that He will give you wisdom to recognize His leading and courage to walk in it.
