Beloved of All
Your desire for a lifelong marriage is a good desire, and we are praying with you for it. Marriage as God designed it is a covenant of one man and one woman for life, and it belongs to this present life. Jesus taught that in the resurrection people neither marry nor are given in marriage but are like the angels in heaven, and He affirmed that the dead will rise. That truth puts our hopes in order. We seek marriage while we are here, yet our deepest hope is eternal life with Him.
That is why we also want to pray for the most important part of your life first, your own walk with Jesus. Simply believing that God exists does not save a person. Scripture says even the demons believe and tremble. Salvation comes through personal trust in Jesus Christ alone, through His death and resurrection for you. Faith cannot be inherited from a godly home or from growing up around church. God has no grandchildren. Each of us must have our own close, personal relationship with Him, not a distant or secondhand faith. We are praying that you will stay close to Christ, not at a distance, and that your life will show the fruit of the Spirit and growing maturity. Those who seek to live godly in Christ will face hardship, yet God uses those very trials to form character and to make us more like Him.
The law of Moses that said a brother should raise up a name for his brother who died without children shows how much God cares about family, continuity, and faithfulness in practical ways. He cares about the details of our lives. He also recorded the failures of His people so that we might learn and not repeat them. In the same way, we pray that God will guide you in practical ways as you get to know someone, with wisdom, patience, and purity, keeping intimacy within the marriage covenant where God has placed it.
We are asking God to bring into your life, if it is His will, a woman who loves Jesus first and who will love you faithfully, and to make a way for you to meet and to get to know one another in a healthy, godly community. We pray that He will help you to become the kind of godly man who is ready for such a covenant, one whose love is wholehearted like the woman who poured out all she had for Jesus, not holding back, and whose life radiates His love to others. We pray for His provision and for miracles according to His wisdom and mercy, and for perseverance for both of you to seek Him above all.
May the Lord draw you closer to Himself each day, establish you in His Word, surround you with faithful believers who can encourage you and help you discern His will, and in His perfect time and way provide what is best for you. We continue to lift you before the Father in the name of Jesus.
