Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You come asking prayer for a safe delivery, for a daughter, and that this child would bring unity to your marriage and responsibility to your husband. These are great desires, yet I must speak plainly. Why do you set your heart so firmly on a daughter and a birth without the surgeon’s knife? Are these things within your power to command of God? Judge not according to appearance. The Lord who formed every soul knows what gift is best. A natural labor may exhaust your frame, while a cutting may yet bring forth a healthy infant. Do you think the sex of the child or the manner of its coming determines its blessing? Who made you, made the whole world, and He does not owe you a particular sign of His favor. The child that is born in difficulty is no less His than the child born in ease. And if He sees fit to give you a son, will you receive him with less gratitude? To insist on a baby girl as though she were the sole key to your husband’s heart is to treat your prayers like a transaction.

You speak of false pains and increasing backache. This is the common lot of women since Eve, yet the body’s distress need not injure the soul. Virtue is according to nature, vice against it, just as health and disease. Childbearing is natural labor, and God has promised strength for the day of trial. Do not seek to escape the pain entirely, but pray that you may endure it with a meek and faithful spirit. Many women who labor without the knife still suffer, and many who undergo a cutting recover well. True safety is not in the method but in the hands of the Creator. Instead of fretting over the sort of birth, teach your soul now to frame a mouth like Christ’s, full of humility and trust. That submission in travail will do more good than all your anxiety about the outcome.

You desire that this child should make your husband responsible and unite your marriage. But consider: can an infant, however beloved, compel a grown man to virtue? If he is inclined to idleness or neglect, a child will not change him unless his own heart turns to God. Too often we look to new circumstances to fix old faults, and when the novelty fades we fall back into former ways. It is like one who is sick for forty days, recovers, and then returns to the very food that caused the sickness. If you rely on this baby to heal your marriage, you may find that after a season the same discord returns. Rather, pray first for your own soul, that you may become a living pattern of patience and godly quietness. A wife who fears the Lord, who does not flatter or manipulate, who is content with what God provides, can soften the hardest heart more than any infant’s cry.

And why are you anxious for your husband’s responsibility? The one who truly trusts God is not puffed up by gifts nor cast down by losses. If your husband provides, give thanks; if he falters, still your peace need not be shaken, for your security lies in the promise of God, not in the diligence of a man. He has promised aid to those who seek Him. But do not suppose that merely asking will move His hand. Many pray for a time of trial and then forget Him when the trial passes. If after your delivery you return to worldly cares and leave off fervent prayer, your former labor will be lost. Let this season of expectancy and fear drive you to lasting repentance, so that whether you receive a daughter or a son, whether your husband changes or does not, you may say with the Apostle, “I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, to be content.”

For your request about all your needs according to His riches: remember that the greatest benefits are equally given to all. The sun, the rain, the fruits of the earth, the breath in your body, the community of the faithful, and above all the gift of His Son, these are the true riches. He who supplies the birds with food and clothes the grass of the field will not neglect you. But when you pray for your needs, pray also to be free from the love of things, so that you may learn to distinguish between necessities and luxuries. Many call what is merely comfortable a need, and in seeking it they fall into snare.

Therefore, let your prayer be this: “Lord, whether I go through pain or are delivered lightly, grant me grace to honor You. Whether the child is a daughter or a son, grant that she or he may live and be numbered among Your saints. And for my husband, grant him the fear of You, which is the beginning of wisdom, and give me a quiet and gentle spirit to be his helper in all goodness.” Do not seek to dictate terms, but commit yourself and the fruit of your womb into the sure hands of Him who does all things well. He will establish your labor according to His wisdom, not according to your will. And when He does, you will know that it is good.

The increasing contractions and backache are a clear sign, your body is already engaged in the profound labor of love that brings new life into the world. That word labor captures it so well: a striving to the point of exhaustion, driven by a love that looks past the weariness and fixes its eyes on the beautiful little face you are about to hold. That is the only motive God truly honors, and He sees the travail you are offering right now.

Yet in this same labor, there is a rest to be found. How vital it is to labor to enter that rest, lest we fall through unbelief by trusting in our own power to manage the outcome. All the pushing, all the maternal effort you are praying for, is a natural gift from God, but unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Your body’s work is real, but your confidence must not rest there. It rests in the One who has already established His eternal purposes for you and this baby girl. He knows your longing to avoid a surgical delivery, and He knows your desire for a healthy child. Commit those works to Him, and your thoughts will be established; you won’t wrestle with anxiety about what may happen.

The fruit of this labor is not just a baby; it is what God intends to do afterward. You are praying she will bring unity to your marriage and responsibility to your husband. That is a deeper labor still, a labor of love that will stretch far beyond the birth room. Remember, fruit is the natural consequence of relationship. When you came alive to God through Jesus Christ, the struggle to manufacture love, patience, and godly character in your own strength ceased. Those things become the natural outflow of abiding in Him. The unity and maturity you crave for your family will not come through anxious effort but as the Spirit’s work through your surrendered lives. Your labor for the Lord in your home is never in vain, never empty.

God often works in such natural ways that we can miss the supernatural hand behind it. A baby’s cry at the right moment, a surge of strength when you are spent, a heart softened toward responsibility, these are not mere coincidences. They are His way. So do not fear the intensity. Whatsoever God does, it shall be forever. The work He is doing in you, in this child, and in your marriage is an eternal work.

You can eat the labor of your own hands. All of this toil, this bearing down, this long season of waiting, it is all for your mouth, but in God’s order, it brings true satisfaction. He feeds you with the fruit of your own labor when you reverence Him and put Him at the forefront. Let your heart rejoice in this labor, knowing it is your portion from Him. Trust Him for the safe delivery. Trust Him for the grace you need. And trust Him to supply every need for your growing family, not according to the empty promises of mere prosperity, but according to His unsearchable riches in Christ Jesus.

We are deeply grateful that you entrusted us with the privilege of standing in agreement with you in prayer during this sacred and pivotal time. Our hearts have been lifted in intercession for you, your little one, and your family, as we prayed for God’s grace to surround you, for strength and peace to fill your body, and for His perfect will to be done in every moment of your delivery.

We rejoiced in lifting up your desire for a safe, natural birth, asking the Lord to honor your maternal effort and to bring your precious baby girl into this world healthy and whole. We also prayed for the unity and responsibility in your marriage that you so earnestly seek, trusting that God will use this new life to draw your family closer to Him and to each other. We asked our Heavenly Father to provide for every need according to His riches in glory, just as you requested.

Now, we would love to hear how God has moved in your situation. If your prayers have been answered—if your little one has arrived safely, if the labor progressed as you hoped, or if you’ve experienced His peace in unexpected ways—please share a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If the journey is still unfolding or if circumstances have shifted, we invite you to post again so we may continue to stand with you in prayer, lifting every concern and hope to the Lord.

May God’s presence continue to comfort and guide you, and may His blessings overflow in your life and the life of your growing family. We remain committed to praying alongside you, trusting in His faithfulness and love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
