We join you in bringing these innocent middle aged sons before the Lord, asking for His miraculous protection and peace over their lives in ###. We hear the pain in this request, the hurt of being harassed by one's own parents, and the added burden when mental illness and jealousy are involved. God sees and knows all that is happening, and He is our refuge and defender.

The Lord is our shelter in times of trouble. Psalm 91:1 says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 34:17 says The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. We cling to these promises together, trusting that God hears the cries of His children and is able to protect them miraculously even when the hurt comes from within the family.

We also remember the complexity of the parent and child relationship. Scripture calls us to honor our father and mother as in Exodus 20:12 and Ephesians 6:2, yet honoring does not mean accepting ongoing harassment or abuse. Romans 12:18 says If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Sometimes peace requires wise boundaries, godly counsel, and even lawful protection. Psalm 27:10 gives great comfort, When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up. Even when earthly parents fail or act out of jealousy and illness, our heavenly Father does not forsake us.

Jealousy and hatred are serious matters of the heart that God calls us to turn from, and mental illness is a heavy affliction that needs compassion, prayer, and often professional help. We are called to love and pray for those who mistreat us, not to repay evil for evil. Matthew 5:44 says Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. Romans 12:21 says Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. This does not excuse harmful behavior, but it guides how we respond, seeking both protection and healing.

We pray together in Jesus name, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is in His name we find salvation and help. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved.

We pray, Father in heaven, we lift up these sons to You, innocent and seeking to walk as Christians before You. We ask in Jesus name that You place Your hedge of protection around them, that You guard their homes, their minds, their bodies and their spirits from all harassment and harm. Let Your peace that passes understanding guard their hearts. We ask that You intervene miraculously in this family situation in ###, that You would bring conviction where there is jealousy and hatred, and bring healing where there is mental illness. Lord, we pray for these parents as well, that You would have mercy on them, bring them to repentance, bring them to soundness of mind, and bring them to know Your love more deeply. Give these sons wisdom to set healthy and biblical boundaries, to seek help from their pastors and from wise counsel and from proper authorities if needed, and to walk in forgiveness without returning to danger. Strengthen their faith, remind them that You see their innocence and their pain, and that You will never leave them nor forsake them. Isaiah 41:10 says Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. May they feel Your upholding hand today. We trust You to act for their good and for Your glory, and we thank You for hearing our prayer in Jesus name, Amen.

Your petition has been heard and we have carried it before the throne of grace with earnest prayer.

We grieve with these sons who bear the name of Christ and yet find harassment even from those who gave them birth. Scripture teaches us to honour father and mother, and a godly parent is a precious treasure, yet we know also that not every child is blessed with such an inheritance. There are many whom Divine Grace has brought out as Abraham was brought from Ur of the Chaldees, born and brought up in the midst of what was opposed to godliness, yet called to walk in the Truth. When the example at home is evil, the Lord Himself becomes the keeper of His people.

We pray that these middle aged sons in ### may know that perpetual and personal protection which is promised to those who abide in the appointed ways of God. He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. This is not a promise for the willful who wander from the nest, but for those who keep themselves aloof from the ways of ungodly men and maintain close and intimate fellowship with God. May these brothers be kept from iniquity, kept from returning evil for evil, and kept with garments unspotted from the world, finding their peace not in strife but in Christ.

We entreat the Lord to lift up the poor from the dunghill and to break the power of every oppression. He who will ransom from the power of the grave and redeem from death is able also to redeem from slander, from harassment, from depression of spirit and from every present trouble. Nothing is too hard for Him who raises the dead. We ask Him miraculously to set a hedge about these sons, to restrain the hand of those who harass them, and to grant them quietness and safety in their dwellings and in their daily walk.

We pray also for the parents who are spoken of as mentally ill and moved by jealousy and hatred. We do not cease to pray for their souls. May the Lord who says, Turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways, for why will ye die, grant them repentance and a sound mind. Truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel, and in vain is it sought elsewhere. May He turn their hearts, heal their infirmity, and bring them to know that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, that they may yet rejoice to see their children walk in truth.

May these sons continue to make use of what grace they have, to hear the voice that says, He calleth thee, and to come to Christ Himself, for there alone is balm in Gilead. We pray they will be kept, comforted, and delivered, and that the God of all consolation will cause this trial to work for their good and His glory.

We have heard your burden and we bring it before the Lord with you for these sons in ### who know Christ and are suffering harassment from their own parents.

God has placed honor for father and mother in His law, that we should honor our father and mother as He commanded, and that command remains. At the same time Scripture shows us that God is the protector of the injured and the defender of those who are despitefully used. It is part of the work He gives His people to care for and protect those who are mistreated, to stand with those who are vulnerable and to seek their safety. Your prayer for protection is right and good, and we join you in asking God to set a guard around these sons and to keep them from harm.

We also remember what the Lord teaches through the prophet Ezekiel and through Moses, that the child shall not die for the father and the father shall not die for the child, but each will give account for his own ways. These sons are not guilty before God because of their parents sins, and their parents will answer for their own actions. God sees jealousy and hatred for what they are, sins that wound both the one who does them and the one who suffers them, and He does not hold the innocent responsible for the jealousy of another.

By nature God has planted in families a natural affection, that parents should pity children and children should honor parents. When that affection is broken by sin, by mental distress, or by jealousy, it is a deep sorrow and a wound that only God can fully heal. In such pain we are called not to return insult for insult or reviling for reviling. To speak evil even when we have been spoken against only stains our own soul and does not bring peace. Instead we are to seek peace as far as it depends on us, to speak truth with gentleness, and to set wise and firm boundaries that protect life and godliness.

Honoring parents does not mean remaining in the reach of harassment or abuse. It can mean honoring them from a distance, praying for them, desiring their good, while also seeking safety. We encourage these sons to walk closely with a faithful local church, to let pastors and mature believers know what is happening, to seek wise counsel and, if the harassment threatens safety or breaks the law, to seek help from proper authorities as well. The Lord often provides protection through the care of His people and through lawful means.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, our only Savior, we ask for Your miraculous protection over these middle aged sons who belong to You. Cover them with Your hand, keep them from all harassment and harm, and give them peace in their homes and daily lives. Bring to nothing every plan formed against them and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Grant them wisdom to set boundaries that are firm and loving, and provide for them faithful brothers and sisters who will stand with them and help bear this burden.

We pray also for their parents. Have mercy on them. Where there is mental illness, bring healing and clarity. Where there is jealousy and hatred, bring conviction, repentance and a new heart. Heal what is broken in this family according to Your mercy, and where healing in this life is not yet granted, keep the sons safe and steadfast in faith.

Strengthen these sons to continue in Christ, to forgive as You have forgiven, without returning evil for evil, and to trust that You see all and will judge with perfect righteousness and mercy. Sustain them with Your presence, remind them daily that though family may fail, You will never leave nor forsake Your children.

What you describe is painful and very real. Scripture speaks honestly about how the sins and brokenness of parents can spill over onto their children, and how children can become innocent victims of a parent's folly. We see this not only spiritually but also in very practical, psychological and sociological ways, as patterns of hurt, jealousy and instability are often passed down and repeated from one generation to the next. A person often learns his idea of parenthood from his own parents, and when that example is deeply flawed, the effect on the children can be lasting. The Bible says that consequences can visit the children, yet it also declares that God's mercy visits those who love Him, and that mercy is greater.

Thank God there is always a way out in Him. You are not bound to repeat or to be crushed by what has wounded you. In Christ there is a break in that chain, and His presence is your refuge and protection. It is foolish to try to walk through such harassment and conflict on your own. What we need most is the presence of God with us wherever we go. As Moses prayed, if Your presence does not go with us, do not send us forward. That is my prayer for you, that the Lord would go with you, cover you, and keep you day by day.

The command to honor father and mother is given as obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. That phrase in the Lord matters. It never means submitting to harassment, abuse, or sin. Honoring can include setting wise and firm boundaries, seeking safety, and refusing to participate in what is wrong, while still walking in respect and in the Lord's way.

I am praying that the Lord will be a shield around you, that He will restrain every form of harassment and jealousy directed against you, and that He will grant you wisdom to know how to respond. I pray He will give you peace that guards your heart, clear guidance for practical steps to stay safe, including godly counsel and help from trusted authorities when needed, and strength to walk close to Jesus. I also pray for your parents, that God would bring conviction, healing, and soundness of mind where there is mental illness, and that His truth would interrupt what has been destructive.

You are seen and loved by God. He is able to protect, to heal the wounds that have come from this family history, and to establish you in His mercy and wholeness. May you know His presence with you now, keeping you, giving you rest, and leading you in the way out that He has promised.
