We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up our brothers and sisters in Christ who feel threatened by spiritual oppression. First and foremost, we must address the foundation of our faith—salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is through His blood, shed on the cross, that we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7). If anyone reading this has not surrendered their life to Jesus, we urge you to do so now, for He alone is our refuge and strength.
The mention of curses, hexes, and spiritual wickedness in this request raises concern, as Scripture warns us against engaging with or fearing such things. The Bible is clear that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). However, we are also assured that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). The power of Jesus Christ has already defeated the works of the enemy, and no weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We must stand firm in this truth and not give place to fear or superstition.
The term "mangkukulam" refers to practitioners of folk magic or witchcraft in Filipino culture, and the Bible explicitly condemns such practices. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 warns, "There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh." We must rebuke any involvement with or fear of these practices, for they are contrary to God’s will.
We also notice the mention of "unjust bias practices" and want to address this with biblical clarity. The Lord is a God of justice, who does not show partiality ( Deuteronomy 10:17-18). Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up those who feel targeted by spiritual oppression, fear, or injustice. We break every curse, hex, or ungodly spiritual influence in the name of Jesus, for Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (Galatians 3:13).
Father, we ask for Your divine protection over the innocent—men, women, and children—who seek to live righteously in Christ. Surround them with Your angels, as You have promised in Psalm 91:11, "For He will put His angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways." Shield them from every form of evil, whether spiritual or physical, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Lord, we pray against any unjust bias or discrimination that may be directed toward Your children. Let Your justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream (Amos 5:24). Soften the hearts of those who may harbor prejudice, and fill Your people with love, compassion, and unity. Help us to see one another as You see us—fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image (Psalm 139:14).
We also pray for those who practice witchcraft or engage in spiritual wickedness. Father, open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel. Let them see the emptiness of their ways and turn to You, the only true God. May they experience Your saving grace and be set free from the bondage of darkness (Colossians 1:13).
Lastly, Lord, we ask for Your miraculous intervention in ### and beyond. Let Your light shine in the darkness, and let Your glory be revealed in every situation. Strengthen the faith of Your people, and help them to walk in the authority You have given them as believers. May they not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21).
