We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of compassion for your loved one’s suffering and your deep concern for their faith and health. It is clear you care deeply, and we join you in lifting this burden to the Lord, who is the Great Physician and the author of our faith.
First, we must address something important—you have not named the person you are praying for, and while we understand the sensitivity of sharing personal details, it is vital to remember that our prayers are not to be vague or hidden in fear. The Lord knows all things, and we are called to bring our requests before Him with honesty and trust. Still, we will pray earnestly for this individual, trusting God to know their name and their need.
We are also struck by the repetition of symbols in place of this person’s identity. While we do not know the reason for this, we encourage you to speak plainly before the Lord, for He already knows the heart and the need. There is no shame in sickness, and there is no need to hide the name of someone you love when bringing them before God in prayer. Let us call upon the Lord with clarity and faith, for He hears the cries of His children.
Most importantly, we rejoice that you have invoked the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As Scripture tells us, *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). And again, *"There is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). It is by the power of Jesus’ name that we pray, and it is in His authority that we ask for healing and restoration.
Now, let us turn to the heart of your request. You have shared that this person is sick and struggling in their faith, feeling as though God has left them. Oh, how the enemy loves to whisper lies in our weakest moments! But we know the truth: God has promised never to leave us nor forsake us. *"Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or scared of them; for Yahweh your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you."* (Deuteronomy 31:6, WEB). And again, *"The Lord himself is who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be discouraged."* (Deuteronomy 31:8, WEB). Even in suffering, even in doubt, God is near. He is not distant, nor has He abandoned your loved one. The pain they feel is real, but the presence of God is even more real.
We also see your concern for their worry and anxiety over their condition. The Lord cares deeply about this too. Jesus tells us, *"Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? ... Your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* (Matthew 6:25, 32-33, WEB). Anxiety is a heavy burden, but the Lord invites us to cast it upon Him, for He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).
As for healing, we know that God is sovereign over life and health. *"Yahweh, don’t rebuke me in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath. Have mercy on me, Yahweh, for I am faint. Yahweh, heal me, for my bones are troubled."* (Psalm 6:1-2, WEB). We also remember the words of James: *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."* (James 5:14-15, WEB). We do not always understand why suffering comes, but we trust that God’s ways are higher than ours, and His plans are for our ultimate good—even when the path is difficult.
Now, let us pray together for this beloved one:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and contrite hearts, lifting up this precious soul who is suffering in body and spirit. Lord, You know their name, their pain, and their deepest doubts. You see the tears they have cried and the fear that grips their heart. We ask You, Father, to draw near to them in this hour. Let them feel Your presence in a tangible way—through the comfort of Your Spirit, the encouragement of Your Word, and the love of those around them.
Lord Jesus, You bore our infirmities and carried our diseases (Matthew 8:17). We ask for Your healing touch to be upon this one. Restore their body, renew their strength, and lift the burden of sickness from them. Give wisdom to the doctors and caregivers attending to them, and let every treatment and medication work for their good. We pray for complete restoration, that they may rise up in good health and testify to Your goodness.
Father, we also pray for their faith. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, and he would love nothing more than to convince Your child that You have abandoned them. But we declare the truth over them: You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). You collect their tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8). You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Renew their trust in You, Lord. Let them know, beyond any doubt, that You are with them and that You will never leave them.
We pray too for their mind and emotions. Anxiety and worry have taken hold, but You, Lord, are the Prince of Peace. *"Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."* (Isaiah 41:10, WEB). Replace their fear with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Let them rest in the assurance that You hold their future, and that Your plans for them are good.
Finally, Father, we ask for long life and good health for this one, not just for the sake of more days, but for the sake of more days lived for Your glory. May their life be a testimony of Your faithfulness. May they walk in obedience to You, growing ever closer in their relationship with Jesus Christ. And if there is any sin that needs to be confessed or repented of, Lord, bring conviction and grant repentance, that they may walk in the fullness of Your blessing.
We pray all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is the way, the truth, and the life. It is in His name—and His name alone—that we have boldness to approach Your throne. Thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust You, and we give You all the glory. Amen.

To you who have brought this request, we encourage you to continue standing in faith. Keep speaking life and truth over your loved one. Remind them of God’s promises, read Scripture aloud to them, and pray with them if possible. If they are open to it, gather others to pray over them as James 5:14-15 instructs. And if they are struggling with doubt, gently point them back to Jesus, who is the author and finisher of their faith (Hebrews 12:2).
If this person does not yet have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we urge you to share the Gospel with them. True healing—both physical and spiritual—comes through faith in Christ. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation."* (Romans 10:9-10, WEB). There is no greater gift you can offer them than the hope of eternal life in Jesus.
We will continue to pray for you both. May the Lord strengthen you as you walk this path, and may He grant you peace as you trust in Him.
