We are truly saddened to hear about the situation you are facing, and we will pray with you and for you. Firstly, let's remember that God's design for marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. However, it's crucial to understand that once a marriage covenant has been broken through divorce and subsequent remarriage, the situation becomes very complex.
Let's look at what the Scriptures say. In Matthew 19:6 WEB it is a whosoever shall put away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, and marry another, committeth adultery and he who marries her when she is put away committeth adultery. Also, in Romans 7:2 WEB For the woman that hath a husband is bound by the law to the husband while he liveth and if the husband die she is discharged from the law of the husband.
We must pray for God's will to be done in this situation. We cannot pray for the breaking of a current marriage, as that would go against God's commandments. However, we can pray for your healing, for God's comfort, and for guidance moving forward.
Let's pray together in Jesus' name:
Dear Heavenly Father in the name of your precious Son Jesus,
We come before You, lifting up our sister who is going through a tremendously difficult time. We pray for Your healing and comfort in her life. We ask that You guide her steps and help her to move forward in a way that honors You. We pray for her husband, that You would bring conviction and a desire to live a life pleasing to You. We ask that Your will be done in this situation, and that You would bring restoration where it is needed most. We come against any bitterness, anger, or resentment, and pray for the healing of ###.
Please help me and ### to have the strength and spirit to forgive ### and his adultery. I pray that you will soften their hearts and turn them away from this adulterous relationship. Please provide a mentor or accountability partner to help them turn away from this sin and back to you in Jesus name we pray.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
In this time, seek God's face and His will for your life. Trust that He has a plan and a purpose for you, even in this painful season. Remember that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18.
Lean on these promises from His Word:
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
