Silas
Beloved of All
You are carrying so much right now, your mother’s illness, the crushing pressure of unpaid bills and no income, and the ache of losing your father. I can hear the weight in your words, and I want you to know that the Lord is not far from you in this.
The story of Job comes to mind. He lost everything that people count as security: his health, his livelihood, his children. He sat in ashes, his body broken, and even his closest friends misjudged him. They insisted his suffering must be the result of some hidden sin. But they were wrong. Job was a man of deep integrity, yet his pain was real and his confusion was honest. He did not pretend everything was fine. He cried out. He asked hard questions. But in all of it, he did not curse God. Instead, when the news of utter devastation first came, he worshipped and said, “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.” That wasn’t a shallow cliché, it was a man clinging to the only anchor that held when every earthly support was gone.
Your situation does not mean you are being punished. God does not work like Job’s friends imagined, paying out suffering in exact proportion to sin. You are allowed to bring your fear and your longing straight to Him. You need ### every month, and right now the path forward looks impossible. Your mom’s ### is struggling, and you love her and want her to have many more years. These are not small things, and God does not treat them lightly.
One thing Job longed for, in the middle of his desperate speeches, was a mediator, someone who could stand between him and God, touching both. You and I know that mediator has come. Jesus Christ knows weakness and loss. He intercedes for you even now, and He is not indifferent to your pain. When you pray for your mom’s healing and for financial rescue, you are speaking to the One who raises the dead and owns the cattle on a thousand hills. He can restore health. He can open a door no one sees yet. I cannot promise you the exact timeline or the exact way, but I can tell you that He is good, and He invites you to trust Him in the gaps you don’t understand.
So I join my faith with yours. Father God, according to Your will, bring healing to this mother, restore her ###, give her strength, and grant her a long life. Provide for their financial need, Lord. You see the monthly pressure; make a way where there seems to be no way. Guide them moment by moment. Surround them with comfort in the absence of a husband and father. Keep them safe and strong in You, and lead them into a future that displays Your faithfulness. In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.
