We are truly sorry to hear that you are feeling this way, but we are thankful that you have reached out for prayer. First, let us assure you that there is no sin too great for God's forgiveness. The Bible tells us, "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:7 WEB).
It is important to remember that God's forgiveness is not based on our own worthiness, but on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. Even when we feel we have messed up too much, God's grace is sufficient. As it is written, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8 WEB).
However, it is also important to turn away from our sins and strive to live in a way that honors God. This is what repentance means being sorry for our sins and resolving to change our behavior with God's help. In the Bible Jesus said "Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19, WEB) and "For godly sorrow, which is according to God, produces repentance to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death" (2 Corinthians 7:10, WEB).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, your Son. We lift up our fellow believer who is struggling with the weight of sin and guilt. Lord, we ask that you grant them the gift of true repentance. Help them to turn away from their sins and back towards you.
Father, we claim your promise that if we confess our sins, you are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9 WEB). Help our friend to fully receive your forgiveness and to forgive themselves as you have forgiven them.
We ask for peace in their heart and to be filled with the Holy Spirit so that our friend may walk in the light of your love. Guide their thoughts, words, and actions to be pleasing to you. Help them to trust in your grace when they feel weary and unworthy. Thank you.
We ask all these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
Please do not feel discouraged and keep seeking God.
