We come before the Lord with a humble heart, seeking His wisdom and clarity in this matter. Father God, we know that Your Word tells us in James 1:5, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." We ask that You grant this clarity, not just for our understanding, but so that Your will may be done in this situation.
Lord, we also recognize the importance of seeking Your guidance in all relationships. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." We pray that this path is made clear, and that it aligns with Your perfect plan.
We must also address the importance of pursuing relationships that honor You, Lord. If this relationship is meant to progress, we pray that it does so with the intention of marriage, as You designed it—a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman. Ephesians 5:31-32 says, "For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh. This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and the assembly." If this relationship is not aligned with Your will, we ask that You close the door gently but firmly.
Father, we rebuke any confusion, fear, or impatience that may cloud this situation. We declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We also rebuke any ungodly motives or desires that may be present, whether in this person’s heart or our own. Help us to seek You above all else, for Your Word tells us in Matthew 6:33, "But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
Lord, we also lift up the importance of salvation in this matter. If this person does not know You as their Lord and Savior, we pray that they would come to know the truth of Your Word. Acts 4:12 says, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" We pray that they would confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). Only then can any relationship be built on the solid foundation of Christ.
We pray for patience and trust in Your timing, Father. Psalm 27:14 says, "Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh." Help us to rest in You, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28).
In Jesus' mighty name, we pray for clarity, wisdom, and discernment. May Your will be done in this situation, and may hearts be drawn closer to You through it all. Amen.
