Disciple of Prayer
Please pray that my friend who is in a toxic relationship does break up. They had a huge and unfair argument today which left my friend heartbroken. They will most probably break up but it is not official yet. Please pray that they do. I’m so sick and tired of seeing my friend lose their spark, neglect their health and suffer because of another person. Please pray for this break up.

We join with you in lifting up your friend before the Lord, for we hear the burden and sorrow you carry as you watch someone you care for lose their joy, neglect their health, and suffer heartbreak in a toxic relationship.

We are reminded that the Lord sees and draws near to the brokenhearted. As it is written, Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18, and He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. We also take to heart the wisdom that we are to guard our hearts with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life Proverbs 4:23, and that bad company corrupts good morals 1 Corinthians 15:33. God did not design relationships to steal our spark or destroy our health, for love is patient and is kind, love does not envy, does not brag, is not proud, does not behave itself inappropriately, does not seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. When a relationship is marked by unfair arguments, control, and constant suffering, it is not reflecting that love.

We do not simply pray for a breakup because we are weary, but we pray for God's perfect will and for your friend to have wisdom, clarity, and strength to do what is right before Him. We pray that if this relationship is not of God and is not leading toward a godly marriage between a man and a woman who are both believers, that the Lord would make that clear and give your friend the courage to step away. We believe that dating should be courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, not a toxic entanglement that harms the body and soul, for we are taught not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6:14 and that our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, so we must not neglect the health God has entrusted to us. If this is a dating relationship, and it is causing your friend to suffer and lose the life God gave them, we pray God grants a clean and peaceful separation and protects both people from further harm. If there has been any sexual impurity in this relationship outside of marriage, we gently call that what Scripture calls it, fornication, and we pray for repentance and for future relationships to be kept pure until marriage as God intends.

We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved Romans 10:9. It is in His name we pray with confidence.

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear friend who is heartbroken and weary. You see the unfair argument, the tears, and the suffering that has caused Your child to lose joy and neglect health. We ask that You wrap Your arms of comfort around them right now, heal their broken heart, and restore their strength. Grant them wisdom and discernment to see this relationship as You see it, and give them courage to choose what honors You. If it is Your will that this relationship end, we pray You would make the path clear, give them a way out in peace, and protect them from manipulation, guilt, or further harm. Help them to trust in You with all their heart, and not lean on their own understanding, and in all their ways acknowledge You so You will direct their paths Proverbs 3:5-6. Surround them with godly counsel, true friends, and believers who will speak truth in love, and lead them toward hope and healing. For our friend who brought this request, give them grace to support with patience and prayer without taking control, and to point their friend always to You. We pray for future hope, that if it is Your will, You would bring a godly spouse and a marriage that honors You, built on purity, respect, and Christ-centered love. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to be a faithful friend who listens, prays, and gently points your friend to Scripture and to wise, godly counsel in their church family. Encourage your friend to seek the Lord first, to set healthy boundaries, to care for their body and mind as God’s temple, and to not make permanent decisions from a place of raw emotion alone but from seeking God’s will. We will continue to stand with you in prayer for deliverance, healing, and for God’s peace which surpasses all understanding to guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7.

We hear how hard it has been to stand by while your friend hurts. Watching someone you love lose their spark and wear down after an unfair fight is exhausting, and it makes sense you feel sick and tired for them. Thank you for loving your friend this faithfully and bringing them to prayer.

It is a gift to your friend to have someone steady nearby who is not in the middle of the hurt. The best support is often just staying close, listening without trying to fix or push a decision, and reminding them they are valued apart from this relationship. When someone is worn down, even small things like rest, regular meals and time with safe, caring people can help them think more clearly.

One practical way to help is to keep being that calm presence and, when they are ready, gently encourage them to talk with a trusted pastor or counselor who can walk with them through next steps. If health has been slipping, encourage them to see a medical professional as well as we continue to pray.

Father, we lift this friend to You and ask for Your protection, wisdom and healing. Bring clarity for what is next, surround them with supportive people, and restore strength and hope. Give our friend here wisdom to know how to love well and peace as they trust You. In Jesus name, amen.

Thank you. I am not a toxic friend. I’m just praying that the final decision will be break up and not more suffering. Thank you for praying!

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It is a painful thing to watch one you love lose their brightness and strength under the weight of a wounding relationship, and your compassion for your friend is itself a tender evidence of love. The heart that is broken by harsh and unfair words is sore indeed, and we do well to bring such sorrows to the great Physician who alone can heal the wounded.

There is abundant healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but even the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing, and those healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. When the Lord comes and dwells with His people, the Sun of Righteousness rises upon them with healing in His wings, and pardon and healing are found together in His hand.

We will pray for your friend, that the Lord will look upon this broken heart and bind it up. We will ask that Christ, who heals the broken in heart, will grant clarity of mind, strength of body, and peace of spirit in this time of confusion and heartbreak. We will pray that your friend may be kept in safety, restored in health, and guided into wise and godly counsel, that every decision may be made not in haste or bitterness, but in the fear of the Lord and in submission to His perfect will.

We will also pray for you, that you may be a faithful and gentle support, pointing your friend always to the healing balm that is found at Calvary, where the Physician does not merely point out the disease but applies the remedy. May your friend be led to seek the Lord earnestly, to hear His Word, and to find that faith comes by hearing, and that where Christ teaches, His healing power is present.

Let us pray together that the Lord will do what is best and most merciful for your friend, whether that be gracious deliverance from a harmful bond or, if it be His will, a work of true repentance and transformation. Above all we ask that both hearts involved may be brought to know the forgiveness and healing that are in Christ Jesus alone, for He must begin with us before we can rightly begin with others. May the Lord lift up your friend by His own hand, restore the spark that sorrow has dimmed, and cause that life to be again devoted to His service in health and joy.

Thank you for sharing this burden and for loving your friend so faithfully. Your sorrow in seeing your friend lose their spark, neglect their health and suffer shows what true friendship is. A genuine friend loves fervently, prays for the other as for himself, and desires what is truly good for them, not just what feels good in the moment.

We hear how painful it has been to watch this relationship harm your friend, and how the argument today left them heartbroken. It is right to bring this to God and to ask Him for wisdom, protection and healing.

We will pray with you, not simply for an outcome, but for God to be near and to lead both of you in what is good and holy. Scripture teaches that our deepest friendships should be built on godliness and love that comes from God, and that when God is favorable to us we have a sure refuge even when human relationships bring war and confusion. We will pray that your friend experiences that friendship with God, and that God gives clarity, courage and peace in the days ahead.

We pray that God would protect your friend in body and mind, restore health and joy, surround them with wise and loving community, and give clear wisdom to see what is healthy and what is harmful. If this is a dating relationship, we pray that God would give strength to step away from what is toxic and to not remain bound to what diminishes life and faith, and that He would open a way to a future marked by respect, kindness and godliness. If there is a marriage covenant involved, we pray for safety first, for wise pastoral and counseling help, and for God to work toward healing and reconciliation where possible, while protecting from harm.

We also pray for you as you walk beside your friend. Continue to be a steady, prayerful presence who listens, encourages healthy choices, and points your friend to Christ who alone is our Savior and true source of hope. You cannot make decisions for your friend, but you can keep praying, keep loving, and keep inviting them toward what brings life.

Here is a prayer we offer together:

Father, we lift this dear friend to you. You see the heartbreak, the exhaustion and the loss of health and joy. Have mercy and bring comfort and healing. Give wisdom to discern what is right, courage to do what is healthy and holy, and protection from what harms. Surround this friend with godly love and wise counsel. Restore the spark that has been dimmed and lead into the life and peace you desire. Help the one who is interceding to be a faithful and patient friend, reflecting your love. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who gave Himself for us while we were still far off and who calls us friends. Amen.

Thank you again for caring so deeply. We will continue to pray for your friend's wellbeing, for clarity and for God's gracious leading. If your friend is in danger or their health is at risk, please encourage them to reach out right away to a trusted pastor, counselor or safe support person in their local community.
