Praise the Lord for His Creation

Dear Father in Heaven, I praise you and thank you for the wonder of your creation. Thank you for making the earth and for making us to care for it, and to know you and to love you. The past week, nature has groaned under the weight of sin - a heatwave - and your people have also. I am eternally grateful to you, God, for carrying myself and others through this difficult time. Please forgive my many sins, and help me to say my forgiveness prayers for others whenever needed, and to follow you and to listen to you, to be guided by you. This week, you have brought us cool westerly winds in answer to my prayers, and I will enjoy your gift. Yet, my fears remain for more heatwaves, more severe, as summer is not yet done. Lord Jesus has been kind to us this summer, for the extreme temperatures forecast for us were never quite reached, and His love was carried on the wind. Yet, forecasts for the remainder of summer fill me with worries. They are a reminder that our climate is changing because of our sin. That we are failing to caretake creation as we were created to do. I pray, God, through your son Jesus Christ, please may your will be done. I pray you will send your message to all world leaders and scientists, and to your people in all nations, to stop neglecting our world and to care for it. I pray you will tell someone in our world how to reverse the damage we are doing and how to go forward to glorify our world for you. I have asked many a year now, when will these summer heatwaves end, that cause such challenges to our lives, health and wellbeing? I yield to your will God, in your time and in your way. I remember Habbuk and your words that you would send to Israel the Babylonians. If it is your will to send to us more heatwaves, I pray again for the strength to endure it. I pray you will protect all your people, and I pray that everyone learns from it what it is you want us to learn. Dear God in Heaven, I would pray no more for the little branches and leaves of the trees in our village are already feeling the weight of it. I pray you will protect us from further extremes and sustain us. We are a God-fearing community, we reach out to you God for protection and blessing this summer. In the name of Jesus, in your mercy, hear my prayer. Amen.

We join you in praising the Lord for His magnificent creation, a testament to His glory, power, and love. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the skies proclaim the work of His hands (Psalm 19:1). We are indeed grateful for the beauty and provision of this earth, which He has entrusted to us as stewards. Your heart for caring for God’s creation is commendable, for we are called to tend and keep it (Genesis 2:15), reflecting His love and wisdom in all we do.

We acknowledge the groaning of creation under the weight of sin, as it awaits the redemption that will come when Christ returns (Romans 8:22-23). The heatwaves and changing climate are indeed reminders of our fallen world and the consequences of humanity’s rebellion against God’s design. Yet, we take comfort in knowing that our Lord is sovereign over all things, and nothing escapes His notice or control. We pray with you that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10), trusting that He works all things together for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28).

We lift up your concerns about the future, asking the Lord to grant you peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). The fears and worries you carry are valid, but we encourage you to cast all your anxieties on Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). The Lord has been faithful in the past, and He will continue to be faithful in the days ahead. We pray for His protection over you, your community, and all who are vulnerable during these extreme conditions. May He provide shelter, strength, and wisdom to endure whatever challenges lie ahead.

We also join you in praying for world leaders, scientists, and believers across all nations. May the Lord stir their hearts to seek His wisdom and guidance in caring for His creation. We ask that He would raise up men and women who will honor Him by stewarding the earth with integrity, innovation, and reverence. Give them the knowledge and courage to reverse the damage caused by sin and to move forward in ways that glorify You (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Your reference to Habakkuk is a powerful reminder that even in judgment, God’s purposes are just and redemptive. If it is His will to allow further trials, we pray for endurance and faith to trust in His goodness. May these challenges draw us closer to Him and teach us to rely on His strength rather than our own. We ask that He would use these times to turn hearts back to Him, for He alone is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for Your creation and the life You have given us. We praise You for Your faithfulness and mercy, even in the midst of a world groaning under the weight of sin. Lord, we ask for Your protection over Your people during these extreme conditions. Grant us the strength to endure, the wisdom to care for Your creation, and the faith to trust in Your sovereign plan. We pray for leaders and scientists around the world, that You would guide their steps and fill them with Your wisdom to honor You in their work. May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We surrender our fears and worries to You, knowing that You hold the future in Your hands. Comfort us, sustain us, and draw us closer to You. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and Scripture, for He is our ever-present help in times of trouble. May you find peace in His presence and strength in His promises.

Thank you for sharing your heart with us. Your praise for the cool winds and for God’s care through the heat is beautiful, and it’s completely natural that, even with that gratitude, some worries linger about what the rest of summer might bring. We sense that tension in your words: a real love for God’s creation, a deep awareness of its groaning, and a longing for relief.

What stands out to us is how clearly you have already seen the Lord answer your prayers. The extreme forecasts were not reached, and the westerly winds came. That isn’t luck, it’s God’s kindness woven into your days. As you look ahead, one very simple and concrete thing might help: the next time a weather forecast stirs up those fears, pick up a pen and jot down one or two ways God has specifically carried you or your village this summer. Not a long list, just a quick, honest record of his faithfulness already shown. Bringing that to mind can quiet the anxious replay of what might come.

You also mention that we were made to care for the earth. That longing to see creation cherished is a holy one. Perhaps in these weeks of relief, you could take one small, tangible step of care right where you are, maybe tending a struggling plant, praying while walking through your village, or simply picking up litter with a quiet prayer for God’s mercy on the land. It doesn’t fix everything, but it can be a gentle, faithful act that matches your heart for stewardship, done without the weight of the whole world on your shoulders.

We pray with you.

Lord Jesus, we thank you with our whole hearts for the cooling winds and the mercy you spread over this village. Our friend knows your kindness, yet fear still knocks. Quiet that inner storm. Guard their mind from the what-ifs, and anchor their days in the confidence that you hold both the weather and their life. Protect all in the path of future heat, teach us to care well for your world, and give strength for whatever lies ahead. In your name, Amen.

You tremble at the heat, but forget the furnace of His love. Did He not carry you through the last trial? Yet you dread the next as though His arm were shortened. This fear dishonors your God. Cast it away, O worm Jacob, for He says, "Fear not, I will help thee." Not a sparrow falls without His bidding; shall the children of the King faint before a sunbeam? He who sent the cooling wind can restrain the fiercest flame. Remember, the earth’s groanings are birth-pangs of the new creation, Christ has redeemed not only souls but the whole cosmos, and He shall make all things new. Your sins are forgiven, therefore fear Him with a holy awe, not a craven dread of weather. The Babylonian furnace may heat seven times, but the Son of God walks with you through its coals. Yield to His will, yes, but do not borrow trouble by gazing at forecasts instead of the Face of your Redeemer. If the heat returns, it comes as His messenger, not His accident. You ask when these heatwaves shall end? I ask you to lift your eyes to the eternal Spring whose leaves never wither. Look to Jesus, who bore the full heat of divine wrath for you, and let that love cast out all slavish fear.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You have done well to praise God for His creation and to seek His mercy in the midst of trial. The heat that pressed upon you and the groaning of nature are bitter tokens of sin's weight, yet even in this the Lord's hand is not shortened. He sent the cool westerly winds at your prayer, and He will sustain you through what remains. But do not let your heart fix itself upon deliverance from heatwaves as if a change of weather were the chief good. The Scriptures teach us to seek first the kingdom of God, and these earthly discomforts are but a light thing next to the soul's peril.

Consider what I have often preached: our condition needs much endurance, and endurance is produced when doctrines are deeply rooted. For as no wind is able by its assaults to tear up the oak which sends down its root deep into the earth, so too the soul which is nailed by the fear of God none will be able to overturn. To be nailed is more than to be rooted. The Prophet prays, "Nail my flesh by Thy fear." The heatwave, the changing climate, the exhaustion you feel, these are not sent to destroy you but to teach you that hope set upon the world's comforts is a frail reed. God is everywhere present, seeing not only what is done but the thoughts and intents of the heart. If you stand constantly in that presence, you will not be consumed with worry about forecasts and seasons, but will learn to say with the Apostle, "I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling."

You ask when these summer extremes will end and pray for leaders and scientists to learn how to reverse the damage. But it is not man's skill that gives fruit to the ground; it is the command from God that brings forth herbs meet for us, and it is He that receives blessing from God. The earth is the Lord's, and He gives it to whom He will. Rather than fixing your hope on some human remedy for the climate, turn your prayer to the true bondage that threatens every soul, the bondage of sin. Christ said, "If ye continue in My word, then are ye My disciples indeed. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Free from what? From your sins. That is the freedom you must crave above cool breezes. If the Lord sends more heat, it is that you might learn to trust not in yourself but in God who raises the dead. He it is who works in you both to will and to work, for His good pleasure.

You remember Habakkuk and the sending of the Babylonians. Yes, God's judgments are unsearchable, and His ways past finding out. He may permit the sun to scorch as a rod of correction, but even the rod is held in a Father's hand. When the disciples were tossed on the sea, Christ came to them in the fourth watch of the night, walking upon the waters. He delayed, not to abandon them, but to teach them not to seek hasty deliverance but to bear all occurrences manfully. When they looked to be delivered, then their fear was heightened. And see then: when Christ drew near, they were terrified, but He said, "Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid." So it is with you. The fear of future heatwaves has already prevailed over you, but He says, "Fear them not therefore; ye are of more value than many sparrows." Those who can kill the body may trouble you, but they cannot touch the soul. Nature's fury can weary the flesh, but it cannot pluck you from the Father's hand. Dread rather Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Let this holy fear drive out the anxious fear of seasons.

Do you wish to be a faithful caretaker of creation? Then first be a caretaker of your own soul. Fulfill the law by bearing with the weaknesses of others and letting them bear with yours. In this way, reaching forth a hand one to another when about to fall, you complete the law of Christ. So too with the care of the earth: it is not feverish anxiety that pleases God, but a quiet, obedient stewardship born of love for Him and neighbor. Meanwhile, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, knowing that it is God who works in you. The heat may come; the branches may wither; but the soul that trusts in Christ is kept as a tree planted by the waters. Your prayer for protection is heard, but do not measure His answer only by the thermometer. He carries you through the fire, and the wind of His Spirit blows always for those who call upon Him.

Yield to His will, as you have said. Let the heat teach you to cling more tightly to the Cross, for when that was lifted up, then the dead were raised, the prison burst, and the gates of brass were broken. Even so, in your bodily weakness, the power of Christ rests upon you. Cease reckoning the days till summer ends and begin numbering the opportunities to grow in patience. If you have asked many a year, yet He has answered already by giving you strength to endure. His love is indeed carried on the wind, not only the wind that cools the brow but the Spirit who brings peace to the heart. Trust in this, and the terror of forecasts will lose its sting. The Lord is at hand; be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
