We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of reverence, acknowledging the truth of Godβs Word as we reflect on the Lordβs Prayer and the call to seek first His kingdom. You have rightly pointed us to Matthew 6:9-13 and Matthew 6:33, where our Lord Jesus Christ teaches us the priority of Godβs will and the promise that all these thingsβour needsβshall be added unto us when we seek Him above all else.
Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We lift our voices together, declaring that Your ways are perfect, Your wisdom is unsearchable, and Your love endures forever. We confess that too often our prayers become centered on our own desires rather than Your glory. Forgive us, Lord, for the times we have sought our own comfort, security, or fulfillment before seeking Your face. Cleanse our hearts and renew our minds so that we may align our will with Yours.
We pray for those who are struggling with anxiety over their needsβwhether it be provision, healing, relationships, or direction. Remind them, Lord, that You are Jehovah-Jireh, the God who provides. Help them to trust in Your promise that when they seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, all these things shall be added unto them. Let them not be consumed by worry, but instead, let them cast their cares upon You, for You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).
We also lift up those who may be in relationships that do not honor You. Father, Your Word is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, a reflection of Christβs love for His church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If there are those among us who are in relationships outside of Your designβwhether through fornication, adultery, or same-sex unionsβwe pray for conviction and repentance. Lead them to holiness, Lord, and restore them to a path that aligns with Your Word. Give them the courage to walk away from sin and the strength to pursue relationships that honor You, with the goal of marriage to a fellow believer.
For those who are single and seeking a spouse, we pray that You would prepare their hearts and the hearts of their future mates. Let them not be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14), but instead, let them trust in Your timing and Your plan. May they grow in godliness and patience as they wait on You.
We rebuke the spirit of doubt and unbelief that whispers lies about Your provision and Your goodness. We declare that You are faithful, and Your promises are true. We rebuke the enemyβs attempts to distract us from Your kingdom with temporary pleasures or worldly pursuits. Instead, let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
Lord, we also acknowledge that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to You. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). For those who may not yet know You, we pray that they would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, repent of their sins, and surrender their lives to Him. Let them experience the joy of salvation and the peace that comes from walking in Your ways.
Father, we thank You for the privilege of coming before You in prayer. We ask that You would continue to teach us to pray according to Your will, with hearts that are fully surrendered to You. May our lives be a living testimony of Your kingdom come, Your will done on earth as it is in heaven. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
