Family,
"You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." - Matthew 7:5
In the cartoon Peanuts by Charles Schulz, Lucy remarks to Charlie Brown, "I would like to change the world." "Where would you start?" Charlie Brown asks. Lucy simply replies, "I would start with you." How many times do we portray a Lucy attitude...?
Everyone else around us needs to change but we can stay the same. Everyone else should be flexible but we can stay just rigid. For some reason, we are resistant to change...Why...?
We want change to happen but we don't want it to start with us. We want change to take place; as long as we can maintain our same position. Beloved, once you and I have dedicated ourselves to growth and development , change is a natural part of the process. When we make the commitment to spiritual growth and maturation, we cannot become who we need to be by remaining the same...
Change will happen whether you and I like it or not. Just think for a moment on how life has changed in the last month. Some of it without your permission. The only thing certain about tomorrow is that it will be different from today. The one thing we will learn sooner or later is that the world around us changes so fast that we can't stay wrong all the time...
"Pass me not, O gentle Savior...Hear my humble cry...While on others thou art calling...Do not pass me by..."
