Power Pill: July 29, 2009

Good Morning Family,

“he restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.”-Psalm 23:3

CNN is a cable news television network. They have 2 mottos; “the only name you can trust” and your “24 hour news source.” An executive was once asked why do they report the news so quickly? His response was because we cannot afford not to. As the news is reported by CNN, their name is stamped to the story…

We live in a culture of quick, fast and a hurry. The pace is go, go, go; quick, quick, quick; faster, faster, faster. If we are not careful we will find ourselves gasping for air trying to catch our breath. We will try to keep a pace that is not conducive to our lifestyle and this creates more undue stress. Life can seem like a merry go round with no opportunity to jump off. When we do jump off, we are dizzy from the ride that we cannot catch our bearings or get firm traction to sustain us…

The Psalmist is reminding us that we must find some resting time in God. When we come to God, we must do so with the understanding that God is refreshing us not to go back at the frenetic pace. God is calling us to be wiser in our life’s dealings…Why…?

Because God’s name is on the line. As the Good Shepherd, God takes the responsibility seriously that we are cared for and led in the right direction. God leads us to bring glory and honor to Him. God does not lead us for us to draw attention to ourselves, fill our ego and have a bragadocious attitude. God refreshes us so that we can follow Him more clearly so we can love him more dearly…”

Lead me guide me along the way…Lord if you lead me…I cannot stray…Lord let me walk…each day with thee…Lead me, O Lord lead me…”
