Good Morning Family,
"In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king's men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem." - 2 Samuel 11:1
A great enemy to destiny and purpose is something called distraction. While often unrecognizable, distractions come in various forms. If we are not careful it will become an enemy to accomplishment and achievement. Distractions can take on many fronts...
The sole purpose of distractions is to cause us to lose focus on the main thing. We can usually identify the distractions that come from other people but the distraction that will often come in obscurity is believing that we are invincible. This distraction is the thought that we are not susceptible to any type of deception or trick the enemy. We simply believe we are too good, too anointed, too educated or too powerful. And before we know it, we are caught in a web that entangles us to no end...
We can learn from David in this passage. David is supposed to be off at war during the spring time. His focus at this time is to be with men but David is in a place where no good intentions will take place. Since his focus is off centered, David later engages in behavior that has consequences and repercussions...Why...?
Because David has lost focus on his purpose. Beloved, anytime we lose focus on our purpose we will find ourselves in lethal territory and on dangerous ground. Do not succumb to a thing called distraction.
Stay focused...
Stay mindful...
Stay purposeful...
And most importantly remain in God's presence to maintain your humility...
"Fill my cup Lord...I lift it up Lord...come and quench this thirst in my soul...Fill it up and make me whole..."
