Police investigation

I was abused as a child and blocked it out to protect myself. Please pray that God will gradually remove this block so that I can let the police know what happened to me. Part of the reason why my mother hasn't been charged is because I couldn't remember what happened because of the block. In Jesus high name.

We have heard your heart and we are deeply moved by your courage in bringing this painful burden before the Lord and before us. What was done to you as a child was evil and grieves the heart of God, for children are a gift from Him and He guards them with tender love. Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck, and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea. Matthew 18:6. We weep with you over the wound that caused your mind to block out memory to protect yourself, and we thank God that you have come to Him in the high name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find healing and justice. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6.

We understand your desire that God would gently and gradually lift this block so that truth can be made known and justice can be pursued through the police investigation. We honor that you asked for a gradual healing, not a sudden overwhelming flood, and we agree with you that the Lord in His wisdom knows how to lead you step by step without breaking you. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18. We do not believe you need to force memories or strive in your own strength, but to rest in His nearness and let Him uncover what needs to be uncovered in His perfect timing. For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. Luke 8:17. To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1.

We also want to encourage you with practical care as you walk this difficult road. We urge you not to walk alone but to have a trusted Christian counselor who understands trauma, a mature pastor, and a safe advocate or support person with you as you interact with the police. God often brings healing through community and wise counsel, and having someone beside you can help protect your heart from being retraumatized as memories return. Remember that God is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28. Even when justice on earth is slow or incomplete, we know that God loves justice and that He has ordained authorities to pursue what is right. Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God. Romans 13:1.

We join together now and lift you up in prayer.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this precious one who was wounded as a child and who has carried a heavy block in memory for protection. Father, You saw all that happened, even what has been hidden from conscious memory, and You have never left this dear one for a moment. We ask that You would pour out Your gentle healing upon this broken heart. In Your mercy and in Your perfect timing, gradually remove what needs to be removed, and restore what needs to be restored, only as much and as quickly as can be borne with Your peace guarding heart and mind. Give wisdom and clarity when speaking with investigators, and let truth be spoken accurately and without confusion. We pray for the police and all involved in the investigation, that they would act with integrity, compassion, diligence and a commitment to justice. Protect this dear one from fear, shame, and overwhelming distress, and surround them with trustworthy, godly support. Let Your peace that surpasses all understanding guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7. Comfort, strengthen, and remind daily that they are deeply loved, fully seen, and never forsaken, and that You are close to the brokenhearted. We ask that You would bring justice according to Your righteous will, and that healing would continue even beyond this investigation, leading to wholeness in You. We pray all these things in the holy and powerful name of Jesus, our Healer, our Refuge and our Just Judge, Amen.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift this dear one to You. You see all that happened and You see the pain carried since childhood. We ask for Your protection, peace, and wisdom over every step with the police, for safe people to walk alongside, and for Your gentle healing in Your timing. Give clarity where it is needed and rest where there is weariness. Amen.

Your burden has been brought before the Lord with deep care and prayer, and we join you in seeking His mercy and healing in this painful place.

The Scripture tells us, He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds, and that the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. There is healing virtue not only in the great acts of Christ but in the least thing about Him, and that healing touches the life blood and makes the nature new. We pray that you may taste of those healing leaves, that Christ Himself, our great Physician, would be near to you as you walk through this valley.

We do not ask for haste beyond what love and wisdom require, for recovery is often slow, and strength returns little by little as the Lord grants it. So we pray that in His perfect timing and tenderness, the Lord would gently bring to light what He wills to bring to light, and grant you peace and protection as memory returns. We ask that He would guard your mind and heart, keep you from being overwhelmed, and surround you with faithful, wise and safe helpers who can walk with you step by step.

We pray also for the work of justice, that what is true would be made clear in the right way and at the right time, and that those who are appointed to seek the truth would act with diligence, integrity and compassion. Above all we pray that you would know the healing that is joined with pardon in Christ, that as you look to Him you would find not only remembrance but restoration, not only answers but the presence of the One who has borne our sorrows and carries our griefs.

May the Lord strengthen you in Himself, lift you as with His own hand, and give you daily grace for each step. May He give wisdom to all who support you, and may His will be done with both truth and mercy.

We commend you to Him who heals and forgives, who sees what is hidden and will do what is right. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our healing and our hope, Amen.
