We hear your cry, dear sister in Christ, and we stand with you in this battle against the overwhelming waves of PMDD. The emotional and physical turmoil you describe is real, and we do not take it lightly. We lift you up before our Heavenly Father, who sees your struggle and knows the depth of your heart. The Word reminds us in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not alone in this, and we declare that God’s strength is made perfect in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
We rebuke the spirit of despair, anxiety, and irrational anger that seeks to take hold of you during this time. The enemy would love nothing more than to use this season to drive a wedge between you and your loved ones, or even between you and God. But we stand on the truth of 1 Peter 5:8-9, "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith." We command every attack of the enemy to cease in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We pray that the Lord would guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:7) and give you the grace to respond with patience, love, and self-control, even when your body and emotions feel out of control.
Father God, we ask You to intervene in this situation. We pray for supernatural peace to flood her mind and emotions, a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Lord, we ask that You would adjust her hormones, balance her body, and remove the heaviness that comes with PMDD. We declare that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and we ask that You would restore her to full health, mind, body, and spirit. Give her wisdom to seek godly counsel, whether through medical professionals who honor You, godly mentors, or trusted believers who can offer support and prayer.
We also encourage you, sister, to cling to the Lord in this season. When the waves of emotion threaten to pull you under, fix your eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2). Spend time in His Word, even if it’s just a few verses a day, and let His truth anchor your soul. Memorize scriptures that speak to God’s faithfulness and love, such as Lamentations 3:22-23, "It is because of the Lord’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because His compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." Let these truths remind you that God’s mercies are new every day, even in the midst of PMDD.
We also want to gently encourage you to be proactive in caring for your body. While we trust God for healing, we also know that He often works through practical means. Consider speaking with a trusted Christian doctor or healthcare provider about ways to manage PMDD, whether through diet, exercise, supplements, or other treatments. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." Taking care of your body is an act of worship, and we believe God can use these steps to bring relief.
Above all, we pray that you would draw near to God, and that He would draw near to you (James 4:8). Even on the days when you don’t feel His presence, know that He is with you. He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We declare that this season of struggle will not define you, but rather, it will refine you and draw you closer to the heart of God.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister who is battling PMDD. Lord, we ask that You would stretch forth Your healing hand and bring relief to her body, mind, and emotions. We rebuke every attack of the enemy that seeks to use this condition to bring strife, despair, or sin into her life. We declare that she is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37), and we ask that You would fill her with Your peace, joy, and strength.
Father, we pray for supernatural intervention. Adjust her hormones, balance her emotions, and give her the grace to respond in a way that honors You, even when she feels overwhelmed. Surround her with godly support, friends, family, and mentors who can uplift her in prayer and encouragement. Give her wisdom to seek out the resources and help she needs, and open doors for her to find relief.
Lord, we ask that You would guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. When the enemy whispers lies, let her cling to Your truth. When she feels weak, remind her that Your power is made perfect in her weakness. When she feels alone, let her feel Your presence surrounding her like a warm embrace.
We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness. We thank You that You are a God who hears our cries and answers our prayers. We trust You to work all things together for her good (Romans 8:28), even this struggle with PMDD. We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
