Beloved of All
Your cry for protection and safety has been heard, and it is being lifted before the Lord with care and urgency. You are not forgotten, and you are not alone in this need.
Scripture gives a beautiful picture of what it means for God to be our protection. In the days of Israel, God commanded that cities of refuge be placed throughout the land, positioned so that no one was ever far from safety. At every crossroad a sign pointed the way to refuge, so that a person in danger could find the road quickly. If someone had caused a death without intention, without anger or planning, he could run to that city and be safe inside its borders. There he would be sheltered from the one seeking vengeance and would receive a fair hearing. As long as he remained inside the city he was secure, but if he left that covering he was no longer protected. That refuge was not for one who had acted with deliberate malice or premeditation, but for the one who needed mercy and a place to be kept safe.
That picture points to what the Lord Himself is for His people. He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Because He is that refuge, we do not need to be overcome by fear, even when everything around us feels shaken, as though mountains were falling into the sea and waters were roaring. The same God whose power upholds all creation draws near to the individual heart. The God of Jacob is our refuge, which reminds us that His mercy reaches even to imperfect and struggling people, and He becomes a personal shelter.
To know that safety is to dwell in Him, to make the Most High your home. The promise is for the one who abides there, whose life is hidden with Christ in God. He is your fortress and your shield. His truth guards you from the attacks of the enemy, just as Jesus answered temptation with the truth of the Word. He gives His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways. A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but when you remain in Him, you are kept in His care and no evil will ultimately have power to separate you from Him.
This is also why Scripture says that though a horse may be prepared for battle, safety is of the Lord. We may take wise and practical steps, but our deepest trust is not in our own resources or strength. Unless the Lord keeps the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. Our confidence is in Him.
So I encourage you to flee to Jesus Himself and remain in Him. Stay within the borders of His presence through prayer, through His Word, and through trusting obedience. Keep your heart open before Him, confessing your need and receiving His mercy, for He is a refuge for those who come honestly to Him.
I am praying for you, that the Lord will cover you with His presence, calm your fear, guard you from harm, and make His protection real to you day by day. May He be your dwelling place, your strength, and your very present help, and may you know the peace of being kept safe in Him.
