We hear the deep longing in your heart and soul to return to your own past, and we understand how powerful regret, nostalgia, or sorrow can make that desire feel. We join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord together in Jesus' name, asking for His peace and wisdom to fill your heart.
We love that you quoted the words of Jesus, and we want to gently help you understand them in their biblical context. In Mark 9:23 Jesus says, Everything is possible for him who believes. This was spoken to a father desperate for his son's healing, and it reveals the power of God to do what aligns with His perfect will and character, not that our faith can compel God to do anything we desire, even altering the past. The Scripture teaches us that God is sovereign over time itself. There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven in Ecclesiastes 3:1, and with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day in 2 Peter 3:8 and Psalm 90:4. He alone sees the end from the beginning, and we are called to trust His will, praying as Jesus did, Not my will, but yours, be done in Matthew 26:39. We are also taught that whatever we ask, we ask according to his will in 1 John 5:14, and sometimes we ask and do not receive because we ask amiss in James 4:3.
God does not call us to live going backward, but to find healing and hope going forward with Him. The Lord says through Isaiah, Do not remember the former things, and do not consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing in Isaiah 43:18-19. The apostle Paul writes, Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus in Philippians 3:13-14. If your desire to go back comes from pain, mistakes, or loss, we want to encourage you that God offers something even greater than returning to the past, He offers to redeem the past and make you new. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new in 2 Corinthians 5:17. He promises that in all things God works for the good of those who love him in Romans 8:28, and that He has plans for you, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope in Jeremiah 29:11.
We thank you for mentioning the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. Placing your faith in Christ does not give you power to rewind time, but it gives you forgiveness for yesterday, grace for today, and eternal hope for tomorrow.

Lead them forward into the new thing You want to do, and give them faith not to demand their own way but to rest in Yours. Your longing has been heard, and there is a tenderness in it which many a heart will understand. To look back upon days that are gone and to wish with all your soul that you might live them again is a sorrow that cuts deeply, and it is right to bring that sorrow to the Lord.
You have quoted the words, Everything is possible for those who believe. Remember how those words were spoken. Our Lord did not teach that faith can compel God to do whatsoever we may desire, even to turn back the course of time which He Himself has ordained. He taught that faith looks to Him, that it trusts His power and His goodness to do what is best. There is no attribute of God more comforting to His children than the doctrine of Divine Sovereignty. Under the most adverse circumstances, in the most severe troubles, they believe that Sovereignty has ordained their afflictions, that Sovereignty overrules them, and that Sovereignty will sanctify them all. The Lord who holds all time in His hand has not called you to go backward, but to walk forward with Him.
Much of the pain that makes the past seem so desirable comes from fear concerning the guilt of past sin, or from regret that cannot be undone. Do not think that you must go back and live it over to find peace. If you would ever get rid of the fear of your past sins, remember that the Lord Jesus Christ came into the world to suffer for the sins of all who will trust Him. It would be cheap faith to take Christ as the saints Savior, but it is the faith of Gods elect to take Him as the sinners Savior. Where God begins to work, He does not ask you to finish. He always completes His own work. What you need is not a return to yesterday, but the healing that comes from His hand today.
Scripture speaks of healing leaves, and we are told the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing. His fruit is sweet and nourishing, but even His leaves are full of healing virtue. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. So it is with a broken heart. We intend to address you upon that important subject, for there are several forms of a broken heart, and the Lord binds up such as are wounded by sin and sorrow and disappointment. Those who imagine that they could atone for the past if they could only live it again are not yet savingly brought to know themselves. We must be humbled in the dust, and made to look for all in Christ.
The prophet gives a word which may comfort you, The inhabitant shall not say, I am sick, and some read it, I have been sick. The joy of pardon makes us ignore the sorrow of the past. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy, He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you. Pardon and healing were one. Your heart may meditate terror, viewing the past as full of failure, but how much more may you muse on mercy, viewing it as forever your own when you are in Christ.
Therefore drive out all unbelief. Trust Him, really and intensely, and you shall find that to trust is far better than to fear. The will after Christ, the wish after Christ, the desire after Christ, the trusting in Christ, the hanging on Christ, that is what is wanted. Look, look, look to Him. He cannot forget to be gracious. His promise may tarry, but it never fails.
My prayer for you is not that the Lord would turn back the sun as in the days of Hezekiah according to your longing, for that is not His appointed way, but that He would grant you what is far better, a heart cleansed by the blood of Jesus, a mind stayed upon His sovereign goodness, and a healing which makes the past forgiven and the future bright with hope. May He teach you from your youth as He taught David, and make you to declare His wondrous works, finding that His grace in the present is sufficient, and His mercy redeems even what you cannot revisit.
May the Lord give you to trust and not to fear, to receive His pardon and His healing, and to follow Him step by step into the days He has prepared for you.

Your heartfelt longing to return to the past has been heard, and I thank you for sharing it with such honesty. The ache behind those words is real, and it is good that you have brought it before the Lord and before his people.
You quoted the words of Jesus, Everything is possible for one who believes. That promise is true and precious, but it is important to understand what the Lord means by it. Faith is not a power that compels God to reverse time or to undo what has happened according to our wish. As Scripture teaches, without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Faith is first of all trust in who God is, in his goodness and his wisdom, and confidence that he will do what is best for our salvation, even when his way is not our way.
Many things that seem desirable to us are not given, because God sees what we cannot see. He does not turn the clock backward, but he does something greater. He redeems what has been, he forgives what needs forgiveness, he heals the wounds of memory, and he makes all things new. The Apostle says that godly sorrow works repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret. When we bring our regrets and sorrows to God in that way, he does not keep us bound to the past, he frees us from it so we can walk with him in the present.
So we will pray for you, not that time itself would be undone, but that God would do the deeper work that only he can do. We pray that he would grant you peace with what cannot be changed, healing where there has been hurt, forgiveness through Jesus Christ where there is sin and guilt, and a growing trust in his providence for your life today. We pray that your faith would be strengthened to believe that he is present now, that he loves you, and that he is able to use even the painful parts of your past for your good and for his glory.
If this longing comes from a specific loss or failure, bring that very thing to Christ directly in prayer, asking not only for relief from pain but for his will to be done and for his grace to sustain you. He hears those who seek him with a sincere heart, and he rewards that seeking with himself.
May the Lord give you comfort, wisdom, and hope as you continue to trust him, and may you find that his grace is sufficient for each day he gives you.

Many people carry a deep wish to undo what has been, to revisit earlier days, whether because of regret, loss, or the memory of something precious. It is good that you bring this desire to Jesus, because He alone can bring true healing for the past.
When Jesus said that everything is possible for the one who believes, He was revealing the limitless power of God to save, to forgive, and to transform a life according to the Father's perfect will. That promise does not mean that God will turn back time for us in a physical sense, or that faith is a way to force our own wish to happen. God's power always works together with His wisdom and His loving purpose for us.
Scripture points us in a different direction concerning the past. The apostle Paul spoke of counting his former gains and accomplishments as loss compared to knowing Christ, and his great desire was to be found in Him, not resting on what had been, but living in a new life by faith in Jesus to do for him what he could not do for himself. He taught that we cannot live in the past, whether we are clinging to past failures or even to past spiritual highs. For our experience with God to be real, it must be translated into the present, into a living, daily walk with Him now.
That is why Paul also urges us to forget what lies behind and to press forward, to run with full commitment toward what God has set before us, not jogging without purpose but giving our whole heart to following Jesus. Looking backward keeps us stagnant. Looking to Christ moves us forward into what He wants to do next, and He has good and glorious plans for those who trust Him.
This does not mean your past is ignored. If there is guilt, regret, or pain from what has happened, God does not want you to live under that weight. The Bible teaches that through faith in Jesus Christ we are forgiven and made right with God, not by any ritual of our own, but by His grace. To keep rehearsing guilt is to refuse the cleansing He has already provided. He invites you to bring the whole past to Him, to receive forgiveness and peace with God, and to let Him heal what still hurts.
Paul also learned the secret of contentment in whatever situation he was in, whether in need or in abundance, because his strength was in Christ. That contentment does not come from returning to an earlier chapter of life, but from trusting that Jesus is present with you now and is able to work all things for good as you walk with Him today.
So the prayer is not that God would send you back in time, but that He would make you new in the present, that He would lift the burden of yesterday, fill you with His joy and peace now, and lead you into the future He has prepared. Throw overboard the effort to live again in what was, and receive the new life He offers by His Spirit. Rest in His forgiveness, walk with Him day by day, and look forward with hope to what He will do in and through you.
May the Lord give you a deep assurance of His love, heal the sorrow that makes the past seem so desirable, and show you the fullness of life that is found in belonging to Jesus today and forever.

He invites you to bring the whole past to Him, to receive forgiveness and peace with God, and to let Him heal what still hurts.
Paul also learned the secret of contentment in whatever situation he was in, whether in need or in abundance, because his strength was in Christ. That contentment does not come from returning to an earlier chapter of life, but from trusting that Jesus is present with you now and is able to work all things for good as you walk with Him today.
So the prayer is not that God would send you back in time, but that He would make you new in the present, that He would lift the burden of yesterday, fill you with His joy and peace now, and lead you into the future He has prepared. Throw overboard the effort to live again in what was, and receive the new life He offers by His Spirit. Rest in His forgiveness, walk with Him day by day, and look forward with hope to what He will do in and through you.
May the Lord give you a deep assurance of His love, heal the sorrow that makes the past seem so desirable, and show you the fullness of life that is found in belonging to Jesus today and forever.
