Disciple of Prayer
Hello, I’d like you to pray for me for a temporal miracle. Let me explain: I wish with all my soul and all my heart ♥️ to go back to my own past. Although everyone says it’s impossible, I believe it’s possible… Please pray for me 🙏🏼

We have heard your heartfelt request and your deep longing to go back to your own past, and we join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord together in Jesus' name. We understand that this desire comes from a place of great pain, regret, or longing in your soul, and we want you to know that God sees your heart and cares deeply for you.

We want to share with you what Scripture teaches about time and our past. God Himself is outside of time and is sovereign over it, as we read in Psalm 31:15, My times are in your hand, and in Ecclesiastes 3:1, For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven. With God all things are possible as Jesus says in Mark 10:27, For all things are possible with God, yet God also calls us to trust His perfect will and His purpose for our lives, even when we do not understand it. We read in 1 John 5:14, This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.

The Bible does not teach that God will send us back in time to relive our past, but it does teach something even more hopeful, that He can redeem our past, heal our brokenness, and make us new. We are encouraged not to remain bound to what is behind us but to look forward to what God is doing now. As it says in Isaiah 43:18-19, Do not remember the former things, and do not consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Do you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. And in Philippians 3:13-14, Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

If your desire to return to the past comes from regret, guilt, or sorrow over choices made, we want you to know that God offers complete forgiveness and healing through Jesus Christ. In Psalm 147:3 we are told He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. In 2 Corinthians 5:17 we read, Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. And in Romans 8:28 we have the promise that We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. God does not need to reverse time to restore you, He can restore your heart and your future today.

We also noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently share why this is so important. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God the Father and receive salvation and answered prayer. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not yet placed your full trust in Jesus, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, as Romans 10:9 teaches, for then you will be saved and have peace with God for all eternity.

We now pray together for you.

Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Lord, You know the depth of this longing to return to the past and the pain that has caused it. We ask that You would pour out Your comfort, Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and Your healing upon this heart. Father, if there is regret, guilt, or trauma that is holding this soul captive, we pray that You would bring Your forgiveness and restoration through the blood of Jesus. Help this dear one to know that You love them, that You have a hopeful future for them as promised in Jeremiah 29:11, and that You can make all things new. We pray that Your will be done in this life, and that You would guide this person to trust You with the past, present, and future. Lead them to seek You daily in Your Word and to walk in the new life You offer in Christ. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking the Lord, to read His Word daily, and to share your struggles with a trusted pastor or mature Christian believer who can walk with you, pray with you, and help you find healing and purpose in Christ as you move forward.

We hear the ache in your words and how much your heart wants to go back. Thank you for trusting us with something so personal. That deep wish to revisit the past often comes from love, regret, or a moment you wish you could live differently, and it makes sense that it feels so urgent to you.

We will pray for you for God's nearness and wisdom as you carry this longing. While we cannot ask God to bend time backward, we do believe He hears every honest prayer and He is able to bring healing, forgiveness and new purpose right where you are now. He is not distant from what happened then, and He can redeem what feels lost or unfinished.

One gentle next step that may help is to name before the Lord what specifically draws you back. If you can, share that one burden with a trusted pastor or counselor who can listen and pray with you face to face in the coming days. Bringing the real story underneath the wish into the light often opens the way for God's peace to work.

Father, we lift this dear one to You. You know the longing and the story behind it. Give comfort, clear guidance, and a sense of Your loving presence today. Help them to know they are heard and held by You, and lead them step by step into the hope You have for their future. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your earnest request has been heard with much tenderness, and it is with a sincere desire for your good that I answer you.

There is a natural sorrow in the heart which cries out with Job, Oh that I were as in months past. It is the expression of a deep regret which many have felt when they have endured great reverses, and when the present seems heavy and the past seems bright. Looking back, the soul is apt to remember the work of grace and to forget the deficiencies and trials which were also there, and so to think that former days were better than these. This sigh is common to our frail humanity, and the Lord knows the ache from which it comes.

Yet I must speak to you faithfully concerning what you ask. You desire a temporal miracle to go back into your own past, and though you believe it to be possible, the Word of God does not teach us to seek such a reversal of His providence. There is no attribute more comforting to the child of God than the doctrine of Divine Sovereignty. Under the most adverse circumstances, in the most severe troubles, we believe that Sovereignty hath ordained our afflictions, that Sovereignty overrules them, and that Sovereignty will sanctify them all. The Lord reigns, and it is a most gracious Sovereignty that orders our steps. He does not call us to undo what His hand has permitted, but to trust Him where we are.

If your longing to return arises from fear concerning the guilt of past sin, know that trouble for sin is indeed far more bitter than any temporal trouble. But you need not go back to atone for what has been done. Remember that the Lord Jesus Christ came into the world to suffer for the sins of all who will trust Him. It would be cheap faith to take Christ as only the saints Savior, but it is the faith of Gods elect to take Him as the sinners Savior. Where God begins a work, He does not ask you to finish it. He always completes His own work. To look to Christ, to trust in Him, to hang upon Him, this is what is wanted. Look, look, look to Him, and you shall find that the blood of Jesus Christ, Gods dear Son, cleanses from all sin.

If your longing comes from sorrow over lost joys or present affliction, hear this word also. God has promised His people that if they trust Him they shall lack no good thing. We have been in strange places and in very peculiar conditions, but we have never been thrown where we could not find in God all we needed. He does not promise to turn back the sun in its course for us, but He does promise to be our strength in the present hour and to make all things work together for good to them that love Him.

Therefore, though I cannot pray as you have asked, that God would send you back into yesterday, for He has not given us warrant to seek such a thing, I will most earnestly pray for you according to His will. I will pray that you may be delivered from fear by trusting, that you may know the forgiveness of all your past through faith in the Lord Jesus, that Sovereignty may become your comfort and not your burden, and that you may find grace to live in the present with hope toward the future which God has prepared. May the Lord teach you as His pupil, and may you be enabled to declare His wondrous works even in this present trial, trusting and not fearing.

May the God of all grace give you peace in believing, and may you find that His work in you now is sufficient for this day, and that His mercy will be sufficient for all days to come.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
